Watching NFL live, they pointing out a lot of mistakes across the league in week 2. I have to agree, they are scared out there. Clueless.

i wouldn't say clueless.
i think, based on what we should expect, they are doing more than fine. these guys aren't professionals, they are d2 and d3 refs (i think thats what i read anyways). if you're expecting great officiating at the highest level, you have unrealistic expectations.
its not their fault in the least, either.
i'd also love to do an expirement of sneaking in the real refs (minus the recognizable guys) into the game and see how many people even know it. its a self-fulfilling prophecy at this point, look at any twitter/fb feed and you have random guys who have no clue about football blaming the replacement refs, as if they have any clue the difference.
just an easy excuse for everyone to just blame them... for fans of teams that lose, for coaches, for players who struggle. its an easy out.

I definitely would notice, by appearance. I know what all their regulars look like
A lot of the issues seem to stem from managing the clock,, how hard is that?

i said that aren't recognizable. you don't know what any of the other guys look like that aren't on tv constantly. they could be put into place and you'd have very little clue unless someone told you.
these guys aren't polished, they stumble on their words, point the wrong direction, fuck up spots, etc... they aren't perfect and it sucks for the game but they are doing exactly what you'd do if you went from your job now to the highest level of your job on a national scale with hundreds of millions of people ... with those millions watching for every time you fuck up so they can laugh and say 'SEE, these guys suck'.

Mike Pererra, or however you spell his last name lol, was on Lebby and graded the replacement refs through the preseason on 2 scales, on the scale of real NFL refs and also on what he expected given their experience.
They obviously got an F based on real NFL officiating. But he gave them a C+ which is basically averaged based on what they're coming into.
But yea, it's bad. But I also agree with Dave, we wouldn't really see much of a difference if we didn't know better.

i'm actually surprised he gave them an F.
F is failing. they haven't failed in my opinion. if we're grading on a scale compared to NFL refs than its an F. but in terms of what a real ref would do and what they are doing without a scale, i'd say they deserve a high D+ or a low C-. they suck, but they aren't ruining games.
based on what i expected, i'd give them a B-. some shit is really bad, but i expected them to look alot more nervous to be honest.

what are you guys talking about you wouldnt know the difference? lmao. did you guys even watch some of the games? Wash-St.Louis was horrible, beyond anything a NFL crew could possibly accomplish.

I think the replacement officials are doing the best they can...but the speed of the game at the NFL level is obviously a bit too much for them. They are missing a lot of calls down field on the PI end. The amount of contact past 10 yards is ridiculous...to the point where any smart defender will just almost tackle the receiver before the ball is thrown. That is a problem for sure. And that offensive PI call in the end zone against Ford in the Raven's game was pretty bad...definitely a major game changer there.

Not sure I follow you, or maybe you didn't follow me lol.
He said an F and a C+ based on how the game should actually be officiated and what he expected them to do, respectively. You said an F and a B-, so you seem to be in agreement with him.

They seem to have a hard time with pass interference/holding/illegal contact calls. Sometimes there is a hold and they call PI. Sometimes there is contact/interference and they call a hold. They also seem to miss the offensive PI pick plays quite a bit. The one last night at the end of the SF/Detroit game on Megatron's last catch was the most egregious.
The issue, in my opinion, is that these calls have some of the biggest impact on the game. And players are adjusting to it. Defensive players are holding much more this year from what I've seen because the refs are "letting it go".

i follow you, i'm saying unless you're grading on a scale, you can't give them an F.
based on how it should be officiated i give them a D+/C-. based on what they are doing compared to what the other refs would do, i give them an F.
semantics!

I dont mind if the officials are bad so long as they are consistenly bad, so that no team gains an advantage.

Not true because the guy actually relaying the information from the other dumbasses actually sounds intelligent and doesn't point the wrong way, mess up the game clock constantly, or say holding is 5 yards when it's 10.
The real refs fuck up all the time but the head guy actually covers for their ass most of the time.

I saw somewhere on the ESPN ticker this morning that there was a record set all time in NFL for these first 2 weeks for total offensive yards gained...I wonder if these fools ^^^^ have anything to do with that

And I dont know how many times I was watching the games and the QBs or coaches were doing the "reset the fucking game clock" gesture over and over to them as well.

Right before the 2 minute warning the Bengals threw a pass and it was incomplete. The clock kept running. I started yelling at the side judge near us, then coaches did, then everyone did. He glanced up, looked back at the line. We kept yelling, and after losing 30 seconds, the next play started. HE finally said "the clock doesn't stop in that situation" The fuck it doesn't! It was an incomplete pass! it stops in every single level of football with an incomplete pass (maybe not intramural flag football). We were livid, he was stupid.
