Getting there around 10am or so and heading out the next day around 1pm. I see all the stuff listed for Niddler but if you're limited on time what would the absolute must do thing be?
The NBA all star game is in New Orleans this year? I had no idea.

That wasn't helpful at all... :)
I disagree, you were very helpful, I learned something today. :)

Heading there next week so good to revisit this.
Staying on Canal Street?

3 of the nights we have dinners with vendors and unsure how good these places are but the menus look pretty solid.

After that some have been to Bourbon, most not so probably some time there but I remember hearing Frenchman Street is better for someone my age and drinking venues.

I know we have some NO veterans here and already know about the beignets and all that greatness.

Any other recos from Dave or others since he is an adopted cajun through marriage?

the 3 places we are eating dinners:
GW Fins
The Palace Cafe
Cochon Restaurant or something

Shaya is the best new restaurant in America. Israeli food. Make reservations now.

What exactly are you looking to do?

Cochon is awesome. you'll love it there.

Palace and GW Fins are just okay.

Jacques Imos is my favorite place to send people if they aren't really familiar with New Orleans.

Parkway is my favorite poboy spot.

Looking for great bars, hangout type spots that aren't going to be so loud pumping Drake and Rihanna where you can't hold a conversation.

Maybe a rooftop spot or something?

We will be doing a couple of the staples that are required for first timers like Pat O's and such as it will be a group of about 12 or so.

those spots are super popular. they gave you the tourist/good stuff.

better that than like Acme. they could have done worse.

Mothers is good, but the lines are absurd and you can get poboys at other spots that are on par without that line. I don't go to New Orleans without going to Parkway for a po boy and a beer.

Killer po boys is my favorite downtown. They have a stand alone store for lunch and in a bar called Erin rose for nights.

Guys po boys is my favorite classic uptown poboys, about 5 blocks from me.

If you want that outdoor drinking new Orleans expert experience go to columns hotel. I think it's what you want

Sipping a Hurricane at O'Briens while reading where to go eat!

Cheers to Shel and Dave for what looks like some good advice.
