preach on, I agree 100%DRiccio21 wrote:dude c'monCunit879 wrote:This year has been really sad for college football. The whole situation is sickening. However, I have an issue with how harsh people are being on Joe Pa. Joe is the only one who did what he supposed to do. McQuery did have a legal responsibility to tell the police because he was an actual witness. Paterno's account of the story would be hearsay just like his lawyer said. As it was mentioned earlier, the people who really dropped the ball have resigned. I will be upset if this sick fuck is the reason Joe Pa actually steps down and ruins his reputation, but sadly, with the way the media is handling this, there is almost no other way to please everyone. I am by no means a Penn State fan or even a Joe Pa fan, I am an Ohio State Grad who hates PSU, but I respected their program and school. Sad
joe didn't rape a little boy himself, but he was aware of what went down and covered it up for a decade. not to mention, he and everyone else allowed this guy to still run a kids charity at satellite campuses down the road.
its gross and everyone involved deserves whatever they get.
a kid was stripped of his innocence by a disgusting guy and they were more concerned with covering up their buddies and their football program than doing the right.
fuck joepa, fuck Penn St and especially fuck the perv

now if we're going to play the 'i feel bad for' card.
i feel horrible for the current players on the team... senior day, having a great season and none of that matters.

What'd he do to cover it up?DRiccio21 wrote:but he was aware of what went down and covered it up for a decade
Serious question as I don't know much about this story.

So he may have done something shitty by not doing enough, but he didn't actually cover it up?DRiccio21 wrote:nothing.shel311 wrote:What'd he do to cover it up?DRiccio21 wrote:but he was aware of what went down and covered it up for a decade
I'm so confused lol.

- former grad asst/former penn st qb saw it
- he told his father
- his father and the grad asst approached Paterno and told him what he saw
- Paterno told school officials
- basically nothing else happened since he was already retired
- d coordinator dude still ran childrens charities at other penn st campuses and still was around the program all the time, reportedly sometimes with children
so basically joepa/penn st officials knew what this dude was doing and did nothing about it and never reported it to police. the guy allegedly continued to molest little kids.

Gross, all of it.
I guess covering it up is just semantics, either way, if it played out like that, then yea, I definitely lose a shit ton of respect for JoePa.

The thing about this story is that it makes me worry about my kids even more. I know that sounds trite and all but it's true. I already constantly worry about my kids. I worry about the other older kids at their school. I worry about them when they're outside playing. I worry about them when they're with their mother because she has been known to associate with some legally verified real scumbags. Fortunately I've always been right there in all their activities either as their coach or just being personally there at everything they do. But sooner or later I won't be able to be for whatever reason. Now you have priests, coaches at reknowned public universities, and all kinds of people in positions of trust violating that trust with children. It doesn't inspire confidence one bit. I'm not preaching or anything here. Just expressing my thoughts.

Re: Penn St
I'm not as swift to attack JoePa as Dave is here. The fact is, we simply don't know enough to make judgements on his role right now. There's evidence to suggest that Joe did try to do more, he just didn't go to authorities and instead tried to keep it with in his chain of command. I'm sure most of you aren't aware of who Jerry Sandusky was. Sandusky was the guy that built the "Linebacker U" image. In the 90s, it was assumed that Sandusky was the next in line. In '99, while the Penn State defense was in it's prime, Sandusky mysteriously resigned. Joe was blasted for this. Now, a decade and a half later, maybe we know why this happened. Was that his alternative to the going to authorities? Possibly, I hope not, but could be. Again, we simply don't know. I want to know more. Who, exactly, did JoePa tell. There are some mixed reports on this. What did those people tell him? What did he tell them? What did he know? Everything right now is speculation and it's already being mixed up in the reports that I've seen. Unfortunately, it will a long time until we hear more details. Until I see boots to asses, I will not support the school. And if I don't see it, then I will refuse to ever support the school again.DRiccio21 wrote:- old d coordinator dude raped little boysshel311 wrote:So he may have done something shitty by not doing enough, but he didn't actually cover it up?DRiccio21 wrote:nothing.shel311 wrote:What'd he do to cover it up?DRiccio21 wrote:but he was aware of what went down and covered it up for a decade

And to make it clear, there is no punishment severe enough to Sandusky. Period.

Why would you ever, ever, ever not report something like this to police and CPS immediately? Ever? The second you know it's happening the phone should be on your ear. There is not excuse to not report it no matter how far removed you are from it or how far down the line of communication you are.

I've read that he did report it to the campus police. That's kind of what I'm getting at. I've seen some mixed reports on this already.

Re: Penn St
if you know something like that happened, you don't stop until something is done. you continue to report it until someone does something.
based on my relationship with Calhoun and the family, i absolutely know what its like to be around a man of that type of aura and power in a state/area dominated by a college. If Paterno told someone that it happened, everyone and everything would be dropped to look into what Paterno was reporting.
the gross reality is that it was probably covered up to save face for the football program/schools image. yes, thats my speculation.

its not really speculation since thats what happened.
a felony was reported, nothing was done. Stands to reason it was covered up

I'm not calling the campus police in this type of situation. I remember those buffoons from when I was in school. Anything other than a parking violation was and is beyond their capabilities. I'm going to State Police and Child Protective Services.

Re: Penn St
Very true, I wouldn't trust them either. The case is apparently being left open to investigate and it appears that Paterno is going to testify against Sandusky. And I agree, I'd never stop reporting until it was resolved.

I watch a ton of Law and Order SVU and wonder if there are really sick people like that on the show and sure enough there is. To me this is like watching a fictional movie. A coach with the most NCAA wins ever who is a storied program will now always be known for this one story. All their history wasted for a long time in my opinion.
This guy Sanduski what a creep. It's just terrible. They should all be gone. I coach on a coaching staff and you can't tell me these coaches havent ever spoken about it before amongst each other. Hell probably even made jokes behind sanduskies back about it. Anyone that knows or was an eye witness should all be in trouble. The ginger kid is the worst, walk outside and fucking call the police and make sure that disgusting old man doesn't leave the building.
