Here's where I'm coming from with this:

There are about a million rules, spoken and unspoken, in the NDL. All have to do with intentions and fairness and not exploiting flaws in the game. So I really don't think the 'wah wah just play the game' thing applies.

When someone takes a blocker, not one of the two returners, and moves him from the away side of the field to the play side of the field on a return (after it's been kicked, since that's all you can do), they get a 'numbers' advantage with their blockers. It strikes me as possibly unfair because I can't select or pre-select someone on my weak side to move to my strong side to counteract that. I usually have two, maybe three guys it will let me choose from and those are the guys closest to the ball, always on the same side as the kick.

It just smells a bit of cheese and I've seen it a few times by a few different guys.

I'm not saying it's wrong, I'm not trying to complain, I'm just asking what everyone thinks.

to me its a non issue. again, this is my opinion. feels like guys are starting to nitpick the shit out of things. let it go. We should all look at our own games then worry about others

I think it's cheesey when guys shamelessly self promote their star players/impact players on their sigs & recaps...Thats what really grinds my gears and if you think about it you would agree.

Clearly you want your impact guy to lead the team, shine, do well, blah blah...What every happened to TEAM Photos huh!? When am I gonna see a sig or hell even a recap w/ a O-Lineman in it?! All I see is 'star QB does this', 'awesome RB has great day', 'speedy WR is sooo cool'...

I've never done it and don't really see it being that much of an advantage by people who have. I think it's a non issue for that reason coupled with the fact that there is no longer return left or return left options

I do it as well, and for the reason that was just stated--there no longer is a "return left" or "return right" option on kickoffs. That said, I don't bring the guy from the opposite side of the field; I bring one of the middle guys on the second line to create a tighter wedge in front of the returner.

In real life, teams will set up for a return to a certain side, OR their wedge will set up on the side that the ball is kicked to. On the game, the ball can be coffin cornered on the kickoff, and the wedge will STILL set up in the middle of the field. How is that realistic? "Go ahead Jonny, we'll block the middle of the field, hope you can outrun the outside gunners!"

Personally, this "I can't counter it" crap is just that--CRAP. Just in case you've never taken more than half a second to look, there ARE two other options in your kickoff play call screen besides kickoff middle and onside kick. Try to follow along with me, I don't want to lose anybody....

Now, you have KICKOFF LEFT....meaning, if you kick the ball to the left, then you can angle the guys on the right to go....wait for it....wait for iiiiit....TO THE LEFT!

Now, I don't want to confuse you, but if you call KICKOFF RIGHT......well by golly, whatdayaknow, the guys on the left will go to the RIGHT?!?! Holy crap, what a tricky play!

If I kick left and someone brings somebody from the right to block, that leaves one less guy to block the guys swinging in from the side. Either way, it works out. So how's bout we stop whining about something that isn't cheesy, and is easily defendable, and get back to posting photos of hot women in the "Females Forum", and talking football?

I dont do it, the only person I move is the other returner who isn't getting the kick to him.

But I dont care if someone else does it.

...and who the hell is jsence? He should have the "sence" to realize that he's new and would have little to no room for chastising the rest of the league when he wasn't even here when this post was made

I honestly could care less about whether or not someone moves a guy on the kick-off; it has no effect on the game. Also, the fact that this thread was bumped is beyond me.

Welcome to the league. Maybe you shouldnt be such a smart ass so soon. Some guys may take offense when they have no idea who you are and your coming off like you do above ^^.

Wow, having more blockers than tacklers is now cheese? Isnt that the point? Unless it fucks with the AI which it doesnt, shouldnt be a question.

My point is, it's no more "cheesy" than motioning a WR to the same side of the field as where you're running your option to get an extra blocker, or shifting your TE over to the side you're going to run to, or shifting your LBs over to the strong side of the offensive line. We're talking about one blocker, who still will be CPU controlled when you start your return, who may or may not even make a solid block. There are lot of things we all do that are legit that are done with the intention of gaining a small edge on a certain play. In the end, taking back a return still depends on your skills of setting up your blocks, and whether the other guy stops you.

Probably shouldn't have been so blunt about it, but I'm a bit of a smartass at times (as Cnasty can attest to ). I don't mean anything by it, just my style of humor. I just think that it's not really something worth throwing a fit about. I'd much rather a guy motion someone on the kickoff return, than have him run play action all day, lob deep to his impact WR, etc.
