I honestly think that Cam throws better than vince, and he is more elusive in the open field than Vince. Other than that they seem to be one in the same.......escept one got paid to play in college.

the way these 2 teams have played most of this season, take the under in the first half and the over in the 2nd.(if you can bet just halves) I guess I showed how much I know about sports betting.

But I swear it seems both teams are slow to score much in the 1st half, and then blaze back in 3rd and 4th quarters.

VeniVediV1ci wrote:I'd be surprised if anyone would take Cam Newton over VY in college.
Why?

I don't think VY is clearly the better college player. Not at all.

I like Cam Newton for one reason, wrong or right. It seems that he does not rely on simply floating the ball in the air and letting his freakishly tall receivers come down with it in man coverage. It seems I saw Vince Young do an awful lot of that.

VY didnt ever throw the ball down the field because he can only throw the ball about 45-50 yards.

Cam Newton has an unreal arm.......not the likes of JaMarcus russell but much more efficient than young and JaMarcus.

Vince Young was a man-child in college, and that's coming from someone who is not a VY fan at all!

Cam Newton walked into Florida as a Frosh and some said he could have been just as good as Tebow.

He went to a JUCO his team won the national title.

He goes to auburn in his first college season starting at Quarterback and is gonna win the heisman going away. It took VY 3 years to figure it out in College.....and he still threw 10 INT's vs 26 TD's. Cam Newton has thrown 28 and 6 picks but rushed for more yards with virtually no big name WR's as far as I know to throw from. Young had weapons like Scaife, Charles, Sweed......and played in a softer conference. Just my side and I would had taken cam and may think he will do well in the NFL. I thought VY would not do well in the NFL and for the most part has done very little in the NFL IMO.

Agreed.

And like you said, VY did it in a conference that played no D that year compared to Cam doing it in the SEC week in and week out.

Watching Cam Newton do well and then watching John Brantley play is a total "fuck my life" moment. Goddamn laptop/papers. :x

JUCO stats don't impress me because if they did Ron Prince would still be at K-State

From watching games VY seemed more dominant to me, but clearly I would be very pleased to have Camputer

VY was not even the best player in college football that season so how was he more dominant? :P

VY beat USC by himself in the National Championship. That USC team might have been one of the best I've seen in a while too.

So, sorta like Cam has done ALL season?

Auburn has an average defense, no WRs, decent RBs.

Replace Cam with an average QB and theyre a below average team.

I'm not disgreeing with what you're saying about VY, but when you say it, you're insinuating that Cam doesn't do the same exact thing.

There's a reason why Cam had better passing AND rushing numbers against much better defenses.

And like I said VY had Sweed, Scaife and friggin Jamall Charles in the backfield.

Quick name some top flight HB and Auburn Wr's for me.

I have watched a good amount of college ball and outside two O lineman and Cam Newton i couldn't tell you anything about their team and I have watched them a few times. I think thats what makes them so great.

Agreed. There Oline is good, but they have average WRs and decent RBs, IMO.

And yet there offense is completely unstoppable.

I haven't got to watch enough of him. I wasn't insinuating that VY is better, I'm just saying that VY was a flat out beast in college. I just didn't want anyone to forget! I'll watch the NC game closely to give my perspective on who is better... VY's performance will be tough to beat though!

VY's (is that the correct shorthand for Vince Young, don't want to sound unedumacated) championship game performance is up there in my memory as one of the best sports moments i'd ever watched that i had no money on and no rooting interest.
