Re: NBA Thread
Going back to the team lines, the Pistons U 31.5 seems pretty logical to me as well.

Wanna put a wager on that?
I don't bet, but just watch. I know it was the pre-season, but they are looking good so far without some of their main guys. I will feel a lot better with my predicition if we were in the west. Not as strong as the East this year, but I will stick to my prediction

Re: NBA Thread
That's pretty common. I've read a few different simulations/predictions columns that have the Cavs just over .500 on the year.
JJ Hickson should develop into a very good PF. The question is going to come down to Mo Williams not destroying this team.

reign you can take the action also if you'd like.
the Cavs are going to be horrific. on paper i dont see many teams worse then them
pg -- Mo Williams and Ramon Sessions
solid pg's... not great, but definitely solid and a good backup.
sg -- Anthony Parker, Booby Gibson, Manny Harris
just awful. probably the worst offensive group of 2guards in the league.
sf -- Jamario Moon, Jawad Williams
gross. Moon is a reserve player.
pf -- Hickson, Jamison, Powe
very nice. Hickson like you said is gonna be a breakout type player and Jamison is still solid for his 20 & 6.
C -- Varejo, Hollins
no offense to speak of.
so on paper they have a pg who is going to have to be the shooter and creator. they have an up and coming PF, a veteran PF and then a bunch of role players and an awful bench.
where does this equate to 40+ wins?

Hah, I'll pass. I never said I agreed with it, only that I've read it in numerous places and the thought process isn't uncommon.
I have zero faith in Mo Williams as a leader. Even if there was better talent around him.

Re: NBA Thread
pg -- Mo Williams and Ramon Sessions
Mo will play both guard spots to get him and sessions on the court together and play some zone to avoid mismatches against the bigger guards. Both will give us 24-30 points and about 10-14 assists a night
sg -- Anthony Parker, Booby Gibson, Manny Harris
Defintely not the greatest bunch, but Gibson will bet back to his spot up and hit the three like he did a few years ago. Parker will score a little bit more also. This group will give us about 14-18 points a night and hopefully Parker's defense gets back to form.
sf -- Jamario Moon, Jawad Williams
This group will be solid and I think Powe will play some time here also. We are not going to get LeBron numbers, but I see about 12-18 and 6-9 rebounds.
pf -- Hickson, Jamison, Powe
This is where the scoring is going to come from this season. Hickson will be an 18-10 guy and Jamison will give us about the same with Hickson playing center in the smaller line-up
C -- Varejo, Hollins
Varego is gonna be the Rodman of the NBA this season. He is going to be getting a lot of rebounds and will get his points on putbacks. With Hickson playing here as well, this is gonna be nice surprise. Varego is gonna get about 8-10 points and 11-13 rebounds a game.
That will give us about 100 points a game with this team. Defensively I see a lot of quck and nasty defense. And maybe hopefully we can pick up a trade for a little better shooting guard during the season. Just have to see.

I think the Cavs are going to to get a real fast look at how not having Lebron attrack the entire other team is going to really expose below average players for what they are.
But, Quest, best of luck to them man, if thats your team....good luck!!!

I don't really have a professional sports team. I just follow the local teams. I didn't even know the roster until Riccio put it up there.

Re: NBA Thread
Another thing that does work in the Cavs favor, that most don't realize... the East isn't deep. Everyone knows the East has 3 powerhouse teams in Orlando, Boston and Miami... with Chicago coming along quickly. But there is a serious drop off after that.
Toronto? Lead by dudes name Jose, Linas, Leandro, Andrea.. awesome. Not.
Detroit? Losing Jonas Jerebko was a tough blow... no, really, it was. That's says a lot.
Washington? Too Young and still has the enigma. Which Agent shows up? Wall could be special.
New Jersey? Too Young, without an enigma. (Though Terrance Williams is a strange fella)
Indiana? Granger is solid, but they start 2 white guys from Duke.
Philadelphia? A team with similar talent to the Cavs, but doesn't know how to play like a team.
Charlotte? The team that reminds me the most of the Cavs. It'll be boring to watch them play each other for sure. (minus the Wallace dunks)
New York? More fun to win 80-72 or lose 125-140? These guys subscribe to option 2.
Atlanta? The best of what's left, after the top 4. But not good enough to be mentioned with them.
So where does Cleveland fit within that group? Obviously they are going to get stomped by the top 4 teams, but they are good enough to beat out most of the teams on this list. Again, I don't think they win 42, because I don't trust Mo Williams and I think the front office is going to pressure to keep him out there. (Sessions should be the PG) But they definitely aren't bottom feeders when compared to how weak some of these teams are.

i'm just not so sure the Knicks are better then Philly, Detroit, Indiana... i think they are in that same general area.
Cleveland and NJ are terrible but even those games aren't guaranteed wins for a team like the Knicks.
if they all gel together then i agree, on talent, they should be an over. but i've been reading some horror stories about their chemistry so far and obviously their defense.
will be interesting to see how they pan out... i like to follow the Knicks as i dont truly have an NBA team and i usually get my hopes up and then get let down, so i'm done doing that with them.

If Mo Williams is your best player, I don't think that team will sniff a winning record.

He isn't their best player, that will go to our power forwards. This is where we will get a lot of our points.

Re: NBA Thread
Substitute Mo with Jamison or whoever from the Cavs, and I can't see any possible way they win 42 games.
If they get to 35, I'd be surprised. Just my take.
