I honestly missed Varela, I had like 10 offers out there, and for him, I think I just hit meet demand, as none of the years vary in salary. Corey, can you fix this or when the time comes I'll either keep him or pay a fine equal to 25% of his contract.

I feel the buyout being missed does not sway a signing as a player option would.

If anything, missing a buyout would hurt your chances of getting the player, because it's money they're not getting. So I think you're right to be doing that

A year ago I gave Cooper a 2 year 22 mil per year deal. 2nd year was a player option. He declines it after playing like 4 games last season. Then declines the 12 per arb deal. and now his demand is like 9 per over 3. was his desire for a long term deal that much?

Current demand is 1 year/$4mil.
