reddit has a ootp section and its quality. apparently you can put people on your Spring Training roster without putting on 40 man. Huge for prospects.

This may be a seriously noobie question to ask, but how do you add players to the spring training roster without adding to the 40-man roster? Seems like whenever the AI brings in prospects, they ALWAYS get added to the 40-man roster.

on the roster/transactions screen (that 4-window dealy), you can drag guys into a spring training roster that shows up in the menu on the first day of spring training. it will prompt you to move the guys to their respective teams when spring training ends.

You can do that now...your first pane changes from active roster to spring training roster during that time frame. But this means that player isn't on your 40 man and probably subject to Rule 5

Well only if they are eligible.

Correct so if you have a young guy who isn't eligible based on service time for Rule 5 you can add them after the first day of spring training to your Spring squad and not have them be on the 40 man... But typically they're too young to compete at that stage

Whenever a new season starts, I get notifications all the time that there are guys in the active rosters that are not on the 40 man.
The issue is, I see those and you guys don't because it is during the first day of the season sim.

Unless there is a setting to receive this ahead of when we do now.
But it is after you guys cut your rosters down to 25 and we are sitting at opening day.

Lets try to get the first round done on the boards, but when Thursday's sim comes, I will make the picks manually that are present and then sim the rest of it.
And future seasons will be done automatically using the in-game lists.

no idea whats going on with my team.

one of my games this week my starter went 6 batters, then my closer came in for 1.1 then 3 other pitchers threw then my ace closed it out.

i have my 7d lineups on and everyone is in the right spots. weird

after that i gave up about 30 runs to Sheltown over the next few games including a 3 run blown save with a tired closer.
