I think the biggest thing before this was the gambling scandal in the 50's with NYU basketball. When was the last time you heard of NYU basketball or even knew NYU had basketball? This is bigger and infinitely more disgusting than that.

if this happened at UConn i'd stop supporting the school financially IMMEDIATELY unless everyone that was associated with the football program (guilty or not) was removed. Any supervisors of the football program removed as well.

if they removed everyone associated with it, i'd have no problem continuing to support the school.

i don't think this is reflective of a university at all as much as it is representative of a horrible culture of athletics/image first over the safety of people. that stops by removing everyone and inserting new people.

If this were Kentucky I would disown them. I'd also be ashamed to have gone there.

Anon is apparently very upset about the funneling of kids to boosters and I think they will end up taking action as well. Be interesting to find out what they uncover.

But if it truly does involve big time donors and administrators taking part in a child prostution ring, how can any school proceed?

there are horrible people everywhere. you get rid of those you know are bad and you proceed as best you can.

i don't know that an entire university can simply be disregarded.

I laugh that Paterno is apparently pissed he got fired over the phone. Someone from the school should tell him they are pissed he helped let things get to this point

its impossible to understand the ego a guy like that has to have.

for 60 freakin years he was an untouchable god amongst millions of people and in a week was told to go fly a kite.

This seems to be getting deeper at deeper... I'm going to let my emotional side run free for a second... if Paterno knew something, then most certainly Bradley knows. Jay knows. At least 1 VP knew (since gone) and he is apparently associated with at least 1 of the BoT members who likely knows. Rumors of rumblings that a lot of former players have made previous comments about Sandusky being suspicious. High potential that the UPD was told to shut it down. Shutting down the football program doesn't solve anything. Firing everyone related to the football program doesn't solve everything. So many hands are potentially in this jar.

@shift...
...there are 2 other schools that I follow in terms of college football, 1 more so than the other. Ironically, it's considered one of PSU's most hated rivals from an alum standpoint. It's also the school that got me into college football. So choosing a 'new' school isn't really a factor to me, this is mostly about letting go of the sports team that I followed more closely than any other (except the Browns) since I was pretty young.

baffling and makes me doubt that they are truly 'doing the right thing' and instead just appeasing the masses by getting rid of Joe Pa.

Keeping in mind, living in his little globe that is State College, he watched an entire campus protest for him last night... at the university and in front of his house. I was waiting for the "Free Mr. Clark" chant.

take an hour to set it up in his house. then you'd have to teach him how to power up the laptop and log in, etc etc
