Texas will be blue in 2-3 years is my guess.

Maybe sooner.

Texas may not be blue in Nov, but I think Corey is pretty solid on the timing. Maybe 2022, highly likely 2024.

(caveat, not sure if those cities have enough to outweigh the rest of the country but I believe you are smart enough to get the idea, the top 10-15 democratic cities in population should not control the country)
Not only that, but because we don't elect on popular vote, candidates don't campaign for the popular vote.

It's like a baseball team losing the game but saying "Yeah but we had more hits". Hits are good and can help win the game, but they aren't the point of the game. If they were the point of the game, players would completely change how they played the game.

The popular vote is a horrible idea unless your political views align with the 5-10 biggest cities in the US. That leaves out so many people without a say in how our government works. What works in NYC/LA/SF does not work in KC/Omaha/Indianapolis.

The whole talk of getting rid of the electoral college baffles me and I think it would have dire consequences for our nation. I think a bunch of right wing fanatics couple possibly rise up and eventually start a civil war of some sorts, or a bunch of states trying to secede from the US causing a civil war. It may not happen in 3 years but could eventually go down that road in 10-20 years with how volatile our nation is politically right now, especially if it continues down the road we have seen over the past 16+ years. It seems like it is getting worse and that's not a good thing for all of us.

Currently there are only 4 republican mayors in the top 20 cities (population).
5 in the top 30
8 in the top 40
13 in the top 50

that is a lot of democrat support in the largest cities and I am sure the rest of the nation would not want those cities dictating the political landscape.

The math always wins. Once texas goes blue the Republican party is dead when it comes to presidential races. There's very few if any scenarios where texas' electoral college votes can be made up elsewhere.

Hopefully longer

Or at least till reigns prediction comes true of the democratic party splitting up. Even after I cant see moderate Dems forming a majority with the current republican party there would have to be huge changes to them as well. Ditching the crazy abortion, anti gay and religious parts of the party would get the ball rolling tho...

Sweet, with the riotin', public poopin', rampant homelessness and/or financial ruin one finds in those large D-run cities, I for one can't wait until it's all-D all the time.

A woman will have the right to choose to get an abortion - granted she may step in human feces twice to get there!

I think the anti-gay part of the republican party is pretty small, and very old. Once the blue hairs dies off you'll see a more tolerant republican party that'll be more accepting of gays and weed friendly. The abortion part may never change in their view, but at the same time the abortion part of the law will never change either. I am pro-life but I don't think it's for me to judge someones moral character if they decided on having one. So does that make me partially pro-choice?!?

If/when Texas turns there is not a chance in hell the republicans will ever take the white house again. The only chance they have is to get as many congressional and senate seats as possible to hold off the extreme left, but if the democratic party goes even further left with the views of AOC and the rest of the squad then the party as it is today can be split up down the road, but it'll take a decade or 2 for that to happen.

There isn't a mathematical possibility with the electorate if Texas flips. There would be 132 electoral votes in Texas, Cali, New York and Illinois alone.

The only saving factor might be actually the work-from-home situation so many have been put in this year. While many will still want that big-city life regardless, many will flee them once they can make the big money while not having to step over human poo to go get their avocado toast.

Very true, one thing the pandemic has shown companies is that they can do a lot more remote work for their employees, which saves them a butt load of money. But what demographic is leaving those big cities? Will it be mostly democrats fleeing the large taxes a lot of them carry? If that's the case then Republicans will never see the whitehouse when that happens

In a perfect world the Republican Party disbands and it goes more Socialist Liberal v Fiscally Conservative Liberal.

Nothing about the Republican Party is a plus. Absolutely nothing. Sad part is most of their fan base they don’t give an iota of a fuck about.
