I'm guessing he'll opt out after this season, and I'll have gotten solid value for his production.

I got it.

I don't agree with what happened, removing of the players from OCD back to free agency, I think that the rule should be revisited next off-season and voted upon.

but since OCD would have the nerve to call someone out...shall we?

Julian Rivera - 10/102.5, 8 yrs guaranteed / 72.5 = 9.06 mil/yr avg on guaranteed yrs so 15 mil PO = illegal
Tim Weeks - 3/8 with a 5m PO so thats 2/3 = 1.5/yr avg so 5m PO = illegal
Alredo Rivera - 5/20.5 with 2 PO at 5per so guaranteed = 3/10.5 = 3.5 * 1.25 = 4.38 mil = illegal (600k diff, not big deal but principle)
Jose Ramirez - 5/12.5 with a 5 PO in there so thats 4/7.5 = under 2m/yr avg so that 5m PO = illegal
Manuel Carias - 5/38.5 with 2 POs at 12 each so thats 3/14.5 = like 3m so those 12m PO -= illegal
Ambrose Bishop - 5/18.5 with 2po at 5 each so thats 3/8.5 or 2.8*1.25 = 3.5m = illegal

so OCD have 6 illegal contracts + 2 this yr they "forgot about"

but bring up Byrd

Don't agree with Robs post, and overall Nick is missing my point. Won't be able to explain until later

Premise is that in general people aren't trying to game the system like so many think and it's either one (bad habits) or two (not paying attention to the finer details). Since we had this huge discussion we've had two forget team option buyouts for whatever the reason and one contract with player options above the 25% mark. Just a quick scan of the top contracts, Byrd had the option amount issue, Anderson had an incorrect buyout, and Robbins didn't have one. People just don't spend that much time doing in game tasks.

I had gotten into the habit of making back loaded contracts and instead of doing the 25% calculation, put amounts that I could stomach if the player stayed. When it was brought up I realized it, was fine with Cintron and Morales going back to the pool, and proposed a self imposed fine for the other previous deals that would have resulted in more revenue sharing dollars for the league

Man I wish I could have your trophy worthy 30 years of baseball knowledge Dave. Remember when you had an absolute stroke about Dawson? Who knew it would be a requirement to read the actual MLB rulebook instead of the posted rules we have listed here. But then we only apply those when we feel like it. So you get all worked up about it and then proceed to sign Reese and Rangel well after the World Series the following season despite your unwavering loyalty to your own rules. But it's cool because it benefits you and we only apply the real life rules when we want, and if it doesn't benefit our narrative we just say "Oh well, we haven't explicitly stated it here"

People (including none other than yourself) got up in arms about the Roger Brown deal, but then the following year when it was Esparza in the same scenario Corey fed you some line about it not being written in our rules and you guys ate it up and it was like "anything for you boss, great job!"

I'm like two pages into the contracts in game and there's already 15ish with issues whether it be option amounts or lack of buyouts. People make mistakes, flat out. Have some consistency and get off your high horse, no one is purposely trying to get anything over on the league.

Well i signed Rangel and Reese after we did the research and realized that there was a window to sign the guys after the world series. you know that part when i said 'hey my bad i was wrong'.

i actually noticed you trying to make some 'hey gotcha' comment a few months after and i assumed you were joking. apparently not.

and my comments are directed towards you and my jokes are coming at your expense because, other than bear, there isn't someone involved with shady shit nearly as much as you have been. i've had guys tell me you offered them back end deals that side stepped rules. but lets just move on. no need to sling mud. we're big boys... well... you know what i meant

Is it bad I don't even know who these guys you both named in these responses are?

He'd find a way to get a team with money to sign the player, then trade them to him for his 1st round draft pick 2 years down the road

I honestly missed Varela, I had like 10 offers out there, and for him, I think I just hit meet demand, as none of the years vary in salary. Corey, can you fix this or when the time comes I'll either keep him or pay a fine equal to 25% of his contract.
