I still don't even understand the logic...You own a basketball team of mostly black players, you hired a black coach, your girlfriend is half black...but you don't want her to take pictures with Magic Johnson...say what?

Well this would be an interesting turn of events if true:
It turns out that Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling may have known the conversation was being recorded when he unleashed a stream of racially charged statements that have started a firestorm in the NBA. V. Stiviano, the woman who’s voice is on the recording, has said that she and Sterling are not romantically linked, as was widely reported.
Stiviano said she worked for four years as Sterling’s archivist, and as part of the job, she routinely recorded their conversations, according to TMZ. Before the conversation in question, sources connected with Stiviano said she insisted that it was clear to Sterling that the conversation was being recorded. The full conversation lasted for about an hour. The source said that Stiviano usually plays the tapes back for Sterling to hear, as he often forgets what he had said.
The recording is believed to have been made sometime after April 9, after Sterling and Stiviano got into an argument. He reportedly wanted her to sign a confidentiality agreement, which she refused to do. TMZ reports that Sterling then denied making the comments on the tape, so she played it back for him before it was ever in TMZ’s hands.

Chris Paul thought Sterling was a good guy when he signed a max extension?

Same with Rivers. NOt sure if it were accurate, but supposedly Doc was asked about working with Sterling the day he was hired in his press conference and replied, "It's different now". Yea, it's different, you got power and a ton of money
If the general public knew of this dude's racist ways, Paul and Doc Rivers certainly knew, so it is a bit silly that they are all of a sudden outraged now.
Also:
@WojYahooNBA: Magic Johnson and his partners want to buy Clippers, sources tell Y! NBA, Sterling have their exit strategy.

Agreed.
Lets not feel all sorry for the players publicly acting outraged and upset knowing full damn well what they were getting into. I was reading the Baron Davis quotes from when he played there and how Sterling heckled him during games calling him the Devil and you bastard

They did. His name is David Duke and this guy...
Spoiler!
In all seriousness. This has been one of the best first rounds I have ever witnessed. Almost every series has been more than competitive. So many OT games and ridiculous comebacks and winning shots, I don't know how the next rounds will compare to the greatness that has been this first round.
The ones possibly over...and the Portland Houston games have been insane and possible the best ones so far.
MIA 3 - CHA 0
POR 3 - HOU 1
WSH 3 - CHI 1
The competitive ones.
ATL 2 - IND 2
BKN 2 - TOR 2
DAL 2 - SA 1
MEM 2 - OKC 2
GS 2 - LAC 2

Does this woman have a first name or is it just "V."?

A David Duke reference, poor Louisiana.

Definitely, this has been awesome. I think there had only been something like one 1st round series to ever have 3 OT games in the history of the NBA, and we've already had 2 series through only 4 games.
Go Clippers!!!
/not a racist

Lester Munson breaks it down pretty well here, I think they hit Sterling with the stiffest penalty, or close to it, but I don't think the owners would vote to get rid of him...or it may get to a vote, but they won't get 3/4th of the necessary votes:
Pacers are done, I wonder if the had been fooling us all along, or if the trades they made really ripped this team apart. Either way I wonder who the new HC will be next season.

It'll never happen, but Larry Bird should be the one being fired for this debacle(assuming the lose this series) , if anyone.

I read an article the other day talking about them that made a lot of sense. They feasted on an early schedule that was heavy on eastern conference teams. Their late season schedule was heavy on the west. That coupled with the trades that tampered with the team dynamics, two guys suddenly taking their "star" status to heart, Stephenson's grudge about not making the All-Star team, Paul George's off court issues, and the rumors of someone banging someone else's wife have destroyed the team. Also, Evan Turner is a much more disruptive force than anybody knows. He and Stephenson together are like a can of gasoline and a box of matches. On top of that Vogel has been very predictable all season long in what they do. Their lineups, rotations, sets, and defensive strategies are pretty much set in stone and they didn't adjust. People figured them out late in the season as Atlanta obviously has and Vogel doesn't know what to do next which is why they look so clueless out there. It's just a complete and total collapse in every possible way. And despite all that, they could still somehow manage to win the next game and get a game 7 at home to advance to the next round. Not that I'm confident that will happen at all. The off season is going to be very interesting with this team.

Just when you think the story can't get any more weird...
2 days ago Sterling's releases a statement basically saying she's disgusted by his racist remarks, calling him despicable and prejudiced blah blah blah.
Last night TMZ films her leaving an LA restaurant with Sterling and yelling at the cameras saying something to the effect he's not racist and she thinks the audio was altered.
Bizarro!!!

She had the same amount of money when she made her statement that she did when she was leaving that restaurant.
Also, that's quite the boss move. Dude's a national shame right now, biggest story going in the American news cycle, 2 days later, still going to a nice restaurant in LA. He does what he wants!!!

She was only getting a portion of the money when they were married and that is why she was suing this chick because she was messing with her cash.
I am sure he offered to up the ante and give her even more or even a huge lump sum if she played it right. No way she would change her tune like that out of the kindness of her heart. Unless she also realized he was going to lose millions in endorsements and the sale of the team so that made her change the tune even more.
Either way, it comes down to the $$$$$$$$$$$$.
