I'm reading rumors (just rumors but still wasn't that how this all got started?) that there's a movement amongst Big Ten presidents to remove PSU from the conference. If the newest stuff about Sandusky providing a service to bigwigs and the admins knowing and covering it up is true, I'd say this is likely. The Big Ten does pride itself on it's reputation not only athletically but academically. Free tattoos, recruiting violations, and too much practice are one thing; this is on a whole new level that no one anywhere wants to be associated with. Penn State might just become the pariah of major state universities.

Here's what was posted on the IU boards. Again, they're rumors but, you know...

When all this stuff starts going down don't be suprised. There is strong internal debate among B10 presidents concerning the removal of PSU. NW, IU, Iowa leadership are making it known that they believe PSU should be removed from the B10. Strong vibes around PSU that Sandusky was not the only pervert hanging around. Strong info out there that another faculty member also is under investigation for abuse. I was told that Sandusky has big time dirt on PSU(as we all believed) and will talk for a deal. I can't say much more guys but I have been in tears for the last hour after hearing this. The guy I talked to is a PSU alum, an investigative journalist, and was a great source on realignment issues. I pray he is wrong but it sounds like this is going to get a lot worse for PSU. This has the makings of being a low point in the history of this country. It really is that bad if some stories are true, and I am praying they are not

I will share a little bit. Cliffs notes version, Sandusky was not the only PSU employee using the charity to find victims, Police were in fact notified on some of the victims and were encouraged to sweep it under the rug, Sandusky used hidden cameras in his basement, supposedly a former PSU player will be coming out in the coming days saying he witnessed inappropriate behavior and was soon forced to transfer, and finally the local police are under federal investigation for taking bribes, Fed is already investigating the school now. Also estimates are that Sandusky and his 1-2 accomplises may have a count of up to 70-80 kids abused. Like I said cliffs notes version. As a PSU alum and supporter my source is understandably shaken, the journalist in him has a strong desire for the truth and the major orginazation he works for is looking under every rock. If PSU is hiding something the Media will find it, they are on a witchhunt against PSU.

Fair enough. Might jive with something I read regarding the town of State College expecting to be bankrupted by the time all the lawsuits are settled - which would fit in with your "sweep it under the rug" bribe story line.

All I know is that there have been rumors of some sort of organized crime thing going on at PSU for a long time. I always assumed it was a drug thing/paying players with the cash but it may be something as simple as a conspiracy to commit these horrible crimes against kids.

I can't confirm anything about organized crime but I will say that my source ( Ill go ahead and say it....he works for CNN) and his team have a strong hunch that the second mile was nothing more than a giant sex trafficing ring. The thought is that the reason it was covered up was that MAYBE a host of others were using these kids for the same reason Sandusky was. BTW the thought right now is that Joe Pa was not in any way molesting children. Joe Pa did a terrible thing IMO but it is not believed that he is a child abuser. He is an arrogant idiot but it is other faculty and administration members who could be guilty, not Joe Pa

from the sound of it he recorded his own exploits so he could "enjoy" himself whenever he pleased. One thing I am interested in is the missing DA. Abandoned car, no body, and all his case files and hard drives were found at the bottom of the river.

So fellow college football fans... I'd like to hear some advice / input...

I've been a Penn St. fan since I was VERY young... 4th/5th grade. I have various families members (not mother/father) that graduated from the university. I'm sure it's probably not something that you can exactly imagine, but at this point, as more and more leaks out, I think the end result is going to be that there is no way that I can support this school. What would you do, if this were your favorite school?

I usually listen to Rome in the afternoons... he's way off base with a lot of his information right now, which is a bummer, because I like him. I think SVP or Cowherd is on, so I'll switch over to that. Cowherd has been blasting PSU, but at least his information has seemed pretty accurate, which is my biggest interest right now.

I don't think it's stupid at all Nick. I live in SW Ohio... OMW to work this morning I pulled up behind a truck with a PSU bumper sticker and actually thought about this. I'm pretty much ready to get rid of all of my PSU clothing (thankfully not much... but still). I was actually planning on finishing my degree through PSU's world campus... and there's no way I will do that now. So there is definitely going to be some kind of long term impact.

I'd definitely be pissed off and heart broken. Depending on what happens to the school, i.e. losing Big 10 status, I'd probably start supporting one of the underdogs, i.e. I'm a Gator fan, most likely I'd start routing for UCF or USF as I've lived in both Tampa and Orlando and have some ties, friends and family wise to both. It's so hard to say as this is the first time in history that a school has been hit with such a scandal. It's one thing to cheat at recruiting or tests, it's a whole other to take the innocence of children and then proceed to cover it up. If they had done the right thing and reported it from the get go, Sandusky would have been the target, but now the whole school is a target.

Also, what did Matt Millen say now? I have never had an issue with him aside from making fun of him for his GM skills but I know in my heat that he is a fraud based solely on the way he has spoken throughout all of this. Crying on national TV? C'mon. For show.
