I thought the earlier game was one of the best of the year.

Re: College Football Thread
Best day of CFB I can recall in a looooong time.
Ohio St-Michigan was epic.
Bama-auburn epic.
Bedlam was fantastic.
For me, LSU-A&M was a great game too.

Agreed. Watching a couple games in heavy snow is always an added bonus

Re: College Football Thread
There was one weekend earlier in the year that was pretty good. I'd have to go back to see exactly which week that was. But the rivalries added into the equation made it that much better.

Re: College Football Thread
LSU message board fans were in a bitter fight with Oklahoma message board fans, and both sides managed to lose.

Re: College Football Thread
I hope Rhett Lashlee kills it at SMU.
He will always be remembered as the first OC to bring Miami into the 21st century offensively.
Going to be some tough shoes to fill especially as TVD has blown up into one of the best young QBs in the game.

Re: College Football Thread
We'll start off with an interesting stat going into the Iowa game. The Huskers had out-gained their opponents by over 500 yards and Iowa had been out-gained by over 200 yards. Nebraska record going into the game 3-8, Iowa going into the game was 9-2
Some amazing stats from a 3-8 Huskers team.
During B1G play, the score differential is 0.....ZERO! (went 1-9 against B1G)
During the season, Huskers have outscored their opponents 335-272
Huskers had 30 more 1st downs than their opponents
Out-rushed their opponents 2174 to 1763
Had more passing yards, 3197 to 2629
Had more total yards, 5371 to 4392
Had more total TD's, 45-31
0-8 in 1 score games (8 points or less) this year, FBS record
0-9 in games decided by 9 or less, FBS record
0-5 against 10 win teams
0-3 against 8 win teams
Fun stats under Scott Frost:
Has had one 1000 yard rusher, his first year with Divine Ozigbo
6-20 in 1 possession games
15-29 record at Nebraska
Has outscored their opponents by 1 point over the past 4 years

Brian Kelly to LSU
Weirdish
Weirdish
Re: College Football Thread
Weird timing too. Isn't ND still in the payoff discussion?
Re: College Football Thread
I actually like it. He is an elite coach. He has recruited the south plenty with ND and all he really has to do is connect with LSU high school coaches. Big contract and I see the risk but I think it’s a damn good hire

Re: College Football Thread
A one loss LSU will always have a better shot at the playoff than a one loss Notre Dame. The perception of the SEC trumps that off the weird ND-ACC alliance and Notre Dame’s annual rivals haven’t been strong enough, nor do they look to be strong in the near future until Riley gets settled in at USC, which means it will take a perfect season for ND to get in the playoff. Kelly may not be coaching in ten years so he needs to cash in both on and off the field now.
Plus ND just scheduled home and home with the Mighty Hoosiers in 2030 and 31. He’s clearly avoiding those ass beatings.

Re: College Football Thread
i went to the ND-USC game a few weeks back. i have a client who's one of the biggest boosters at ND and he was speaking like the boosters there thought they could do better than Kelly and needed someone else to get them over top. it was absurd considering the job he's done and shocking to listen to but i wouldn't be shocked if part of it was Kelly just being done with the nonsense of those ND elite types along with all the other reasons mentioned. for the record, my guy didn't agree and loved what Kelly had done for the program. i guess they'll get their wishes now.

Re: College Football Thread
It's really not. This is the norm in college football coaching now a days. A guy can go 44-6 or whatever it is but if you can't get over the top, time to move on.
What was Kelly's signature win at ND?
When you are "a ND" or USC or any of these other big names, it's easy to cut and move on to the next guy with all the money in their pockets to throw around. Lots of regret comes with that when they hire the wrong next guy but they just move on to the next.
He also seems like a major asshole but thats besides the point.
