“We have heard the tape on TMZ. We do not know if it is legitimate or [if] it has been altered. We do know that the woman on the tape -- who we believe released it to TMZ -- is the defendant in a lawsuit brought by the Sterling family alleging that she embezzled more than $1.8 million, who told Mr. Sterling that she would “get even.” Mr. Sterling is emphatic that what is reflected on that recording is not consistent with, nor does it reflect his views, beliefs or feelings. It is the antithesis of who he is, what he believes and how he has lived his life. He feels terrible that such sentiments are being attributed to him and apologizes to anyone who might have been hurt by them. Not to excuse Sterling, but the guy is old, white, and rich. If you were to conduct a study to try and figure out which demographic is the most out of touch with the world, it would be the old, white, rich one. He only interacts with minorities when they are employees or women he wants to fuck. Again, not an excuse but he's just clueless. Also, that conversation really looks like she was leading him. I'm sure it's not the first time he's expressed his views to her and it's no coincedence that she just so happened to be equipped to record this particular conversation.

That said, I have no idea if the NBA can force someone to sell their team but his best business option now is to do it because no minority is going to choose to work for him and people are going to stay away from games in droves. I'd imagine that the he'll have to sell for less than the club its currently worth but thats still a monstrous profit over what he originally bought it for.
