Big Beyonces of Texas really should add two teams like Houston and TCU and move Oklahoma and Okie St to the North division to keep a championship game.

Looks like Pac 12 is looking at Utah...maybe Boise St should have waited :?
Why should Boise have waited? If we lose Utah, we still have BYU, TCU, not to count two other teams that won bowl games last year. Boise was the only good thing about the WAC
cause a Boise St to a BCS conference PAC 10 would be better for them in the long run. So now they get with only TCU since looks as if Utah will be leaving. BYU will be down this season and yes its better than the WAC but that is not saying much.

i haven't followed this stuff all that closely but to me the schools like Kansas and Baylor and Iowa St made out incredibly well.

they went from castoffs without a home to almost doubling their tv revenues from what i'm seeing.

thats like going from finding out you are about to die to having the doctor tell you that he read the tests wrong and you actually won the lottery instead

I know you're an MWC guy, but you're trying to say that Boise going to the MWC is better than them going to the PAC 10?

My Cyclones will happily take the $14-$17 million per year (instead of the usual $7 million) and continue to be the Texas school's BITCH in f'ball! ;)

Of course not, but Pac-10 never looked at Boise. Pac-10 would take Utah because Utah is 1) a top academic university, 2) strong in all sports, and 3) brings in a strong TV market. Boise would do none of that for the Pac-10, MWC needed BSU though to get to BCS status ... something outsiders still think we can do even if we lose Utah.

From a competitive standpoint, Boise would be a nice addition to any football conference. However, Boise doesn't bring a TV market with them. So, I have a hard time believing they would be attractive during this round of expansion.

It's all TV driven by opening new markets which is why a school like Kansas was on the outside looking in. There are no big markets in Kansas yet a school like Mizzou owns the St Louis market. That is why they are so wanted.

Nebraska is a bit of the exception to the rule. They really don't have a TV market either but they are a national brand that adds to the overall TV package.

The entire thing was starting to become an exercise in greed and a real turn off.

True, I like to hold on to the misguided belief that there is more to collegiate athletics than TV football revenue. It seems like a big fuck you to every other sport and the fact that schools that have been linked together for decades will just up and leave for more money just cheapens everything. I am relieved that it seems to have been halted but it is probably only a matter of time.

I understand SEC was first but the Bog 12 was right behind them. "One the forefront" was read wrong I guess. No biggie

Okay, I reverse my feelings somewhat. More details are coming out and it's a fucking joke! Basically, everything we (at ISU) were celebrating late yesterday and early today was based on false premises.

1. Nebraska's and Colorado's buyouts (approx. $32 mil) are going to Texas, A&M, and OU ONLY.

2. There is NOT a new TV deal in place - everything is based on estimates on what MAY happen after 2012.

3. We might not be seeing any additional revenues (that increase from $7 to $17 mil) for at least 5 years.

FUCK TEXAS, OKLAHOMA AND ALL THE BIG DAWGS! Let's go join some shit non-BCS Conference, lose revenue but win more games and not feel like we've had a dry, sliver-ridden slick driven up our university's ass!

sucks for you (iowa st), but it makes way more sense.

those schools had no leverage, why in the world should they be getting more money? they still are HUGE winners just by staying at status quo

Wow, that is nuts.

I'm not sympathetic at all cause let's be honest, those small schools have been getting a ton of revenue coming there way thanks to the UTs and OUs.

But that being said, it's pretty shocking that that buyout money isn't split up.

ISU is just fortunate that King Texas didn't just tell them to take a hike....tryin' to look at the bright side, still in a BCS conference, just with a sore anal cavity! :)

Give it time; Texas will tank this conference, too.
