I love how UVA is now the poster child for everything wrong with college hoops. Somehow the goal of playing good defense and working the ball around on offense to find a good shot is eroding the very foundation that college basketball was built on.

I get that a high scoring game is fun to watch. However, if every game is like that then it becomes boring by nature. It's like every football team running the spread. Different styles clashing make things interesting.

What is boring right now about basketball is that the clock stops every 2 minutes for a fucking commercial or timeout. There is also a real problem with consistency from refereeing. Some games are nothing but foul fests with constant trips to the free throw line. The fact that the game is interrupted so many times makes it boring and frustrating to watch. I doubt ESPN will cut down on the amount of commercials they run but they sure will campaign against playing defense.

Thank you for your time.

I randomly tossed that out there a while back on here. Huh, glad to see it caught on.

UVA is the epitome of why no one watches college basketball anymore!!

really has less to do with the defense UVA plays. Wisconsin isn't that good defensively this year and they are team 1a in this debate. the game isn't really long time wise so i can't say i agree with the timeout aspect.

i agree clashing styles are what makes games but the college game is broken. UConn sucked last year and they won it all, the game is far too easy to be manipulated by the 35 second clock. UConn got hot at the right time and limited possessions and never cooled off. while thats fun for the pageantry of it all, its not the best for the game itself.

virginia isn't doing anything wrong or illegal or bad. they are just taking advantage of the game. they do play great d ,they play slow pace and they value possessions. its the same reason i love Bo Ryan and he's my favorite coach and he's won at every level with decent but not great talent. that style can keep teams that aren't as good in the games. with a 24 second shot clock there would be less upsets because more possessions means a wider margin between good and bad. so you're basically debating whether you want a better game with more basketball skill rewarded or you want closer games that are disgusting to watch. vast majority of casual hoops fans want the close games with the upsets. i would like to see better teams be rewarded, personally but i honestly don't care much either way.

right now its actually a bad thing for a team like Wisconsin, they are one of the best offensive teams of all time this year but they still play one of the slowest paces in the entire NCAA (347th, Virginia is 349th) they would be much better off by giving up some of their efficiency for a faster pace. even if they were say the 10th most efficient offense but at the 250th pace they might be able to effectively create a wider margin in games (i didn't do the math but you get my point).

My "bold" predictions:
- Only 1 #1 seed makes the Final Four.
- UK does NOT win the championship.

In a cost cutting effort, they apparently removed the drawstrings from basketball shorts.

You gotta remember, Trendon is probably going to sleep around 7am

I agree though, that sounds like a big plus for West Coasters.

I feel like Ted at a party when people start talking about cool things like sports and women and he chimes in with a quiche recipe with how far removed I am from college basketball.

I didnt even know the tourney started today which is unfathomable compared to past years with how I would fire up games on my 2nd monitor at work and have 3 pools going minimum.

You are a Miami fan so there is no reason to follow hoops.
