I cannot express how happy - and I've been screaming for this for approximately 10 years - that the school I root for is away from Texas. Good riddance, fools!

It's official, Texas rejects Pac-10. They will stay in the Big whatever.

Big 10 now.

I wonder if they try and recruit a Notre Dame type team
or even try and steal Arkansas and TCU to recreate the Big 12.

Must have been a big $$$$$ bribe to keep OU and texas around in a very very weak big 12/10 now?

They got a last second stay of execution and now you think they could still ark who got no less than 17 mil last season? Dont see that happening.

I'd go after TCU for sure. I hope this now ends the 16 team arm race for a while. I don't see any reason for the SEC or ACC to expand right now.

I am not thinking anything Bfivl. I personally dont care where they go or what they do. It's all about money so I honestly don't care if it is a 2 team conference and OU and Texas play each other 12 times. I will still tune into the TV or the radio on Saturday to watch and listen to football. I love my Longhorns and know whatever they do they will be at the top of the rankings for a good time to come.

Texas does have to strengthen their OOC games in order to be more appealing in the end if it stay like it is now IMO.

bet you the big 12 stays at 10 teams. They are getting a richer TV contract, but only split it up 10 ways now, not 12 ... why invite more teams, that would get you less money per school. Especially since the coaches don't seem to mind losing the title game

By the way, you can blame Notre Dame for all of this mess.

Seriously.

Here is my dream: ND goes 103-122 with a 2-8 bowl record over the next 20 years. NBC drops them and people cease giving a fuck about them and they have to join the MAC while North Dakota State rises from I-AA and gets an invite to the Big XII and gets a 35m contract.

You can blame Texas and Notre Dame.

They control college football.

Kdog this is not a Texas random hate comment like its Ou/Tejas week. It's due to the fact that we are so dependent on them. Or so we think. We can't leave without them and neither can the other schools. Its just not a smart decision business wise.

But when it comes to college football this is a bad decision. Its a step back for the conference. They were in the forefront when they made the conference with the 12 teams 2 divisions and a championship game. Now all of that is imploding.

Why?

Because of the amount of dollars raked in.

I could go on forever but I won't (I wanna lay MGS3.) LOL

Basicly Dan Bebe and the rest of the conference has given Texas a ticket to do what ever in the hell they want.

You may think this is good for your school now Kdog, but in the future this is all going to come up again. College football at some point is going to rationalize the whole situation and get some fucking structure. These 16 team conferences was a step in that direction.

Instead we are going to suck the tit until it runs dry instead of thinking about what to do when we have nothing to drink.

I really should not be angry or surprised. We live in a "WHAT CAN YOU DO FOR ME NOW?" society. we don't think about tomorrow. Lets all get Fat now and not worry about later.

F this "obese" culture.

I see what you are saying.

I actually had this same conversation with someone the other day.

I actually was looking forward to the bigger conferences.
I don't think its over with yet. This may come up next year about this time
unless Texas and the other schools signed an agreement that they would not leave for
X amount of years.

we will see. I think you and I are on the same page though.

Let's get this right, it was SEC that was in the forefront to make a 12 team league and a championship game in 92 ;)

Big Beyonces of Texas really should add two teams like Houston and TCU and move Oklahoma and Okie St to the North division to keep a championship game.

Looks like Pac 12 is looking at Utah...maybe Boise St should have waited :?

Texas didnt reject the Pac-10 offer more like the Pac-10 rejected the Longhorns offer..... typical UT trying to dictate to the Pac-10 .... who told them to go f*ck themselves.

Link: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/06/15/sport ... leges.html
Although it appeared that Texas was leading a charge of four teams from the Big 12 South to the Pac-10, an official with direct knowledge of the talks said late Monday night that Texas’s 11th-hour demands to the Pac-10 broke down the talks. Texas wanted to keep its lucrative local television rights and also asked for “extra sweetener” in revenue sharing, according to the official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly on the talks.

“It was unacceptable,” the official said. “The talks broke down.”

Why should Boise have waited? If we lose Utah, we still have BYU, TCU, not to count two other teams that won bowl games last year. Boise was the only good thing about the WAC

Texas made out like bandits.

They flirted with another conference and then the Big 12 bent over to make sure they didnt leave.

Didnt they like double their annual income or something like that with their own network and all the other perks?

What is going to be on 24 hours a day on the Hook Em TV network???

Pac 10 lost out as they only add a lowly Colorado program while the Big 10 gets a big addtion in Nebraska.
