Re: College Football Thread
it' s a pretty easy decision imo for the University:
- very easy optics to blame Covid and say its for player safety. might even score you some good graces to be out in front and be the first one to do it
- since we left the AAC we don't have a conference so it was going to be nearly impossible to put together a schedule that made any logical sense
- the program burns money to begin with and this is likely a money saver (although i'm sure they still have to pay out the scholarships and coaches)
- this probably buys them some time to decide if they want to scrap the program entirely, which is a big possibility.
others will take this as the first domino but i think comparing UConn situation to teams that have a conference is apples to oranges. If we had a conference and were a profitable program i can't imagine this happens.

Our stud 1st round projected DE opts out, Greg Rousseau.Cnasty wrote: ↑Wed Jul 29, 2020 4:57 pm The first projected NFL 1st rounder in college has already opted out to prep for the draft.
Get ready for the list to grow in the coming weeks I would assume.
I hate COVID.
Virginia Tech CB Caleb Farley, a projected first-round pick, is the first college player to opt out of the coming season, a source tells ESPN. Farley will spend the year training for the NFL draft. He has seen NFL players opt out and is uncomfortable with playing this year.
Its like we barely knew ya kid.

This new Walk-Ons restaurant in the DFW area is epic.
I predict many of LSU games will be watched here by me... if they ever play another game.

Re: College Football Thread
I’d rather them just cancel at this point instead of them getting my hopes up.

Power 5 AD just texted: “You and your colleagues are chasing the wrong story. The virus alone is enough to stop the season. But presidents are terrified of players organizing. It’s the paradigm shift to change amateur sports.”

And my beloved MAC is in a world of shit going forward.
Akron was pretty much screwed before all of this happened.
