Here's why you're wrong:
trendon wrote:As of right now, with the extra point at the two,it is ALREADY FUCKING POSITIVE EXPECTED VALUE TO GO FOR TWO EVERY TIME! You shouldn't even be going for one as it is
trendon wrote:The league converts just under 50% of their two-point attempts but that is because they even suck at picking the plays. Runs are over 60% and passes are nearly 40%. Obviously,if coaches started running after every two-pointer, ther'd be some regression, but we'd be above 49.5% which is where you'd need to be for the play to be positive value.
trendon wrote:If I wasn't on my phone and at work, I'd cite, butmy memory is pretty damn good, so I can pretty much just chant their theories.

Pick any of the 3, and he's top 20 for all of em.
That's probably true. However, he's a lot closer to #20 if you rank them in terms of value for a long term contract than he is for a single game or season ranking.
Agreed, if he signs for $18mil/year, he's definitely going to be further down on the value list.

But as a QB, good luck objectively arguing that 20 are better to whoever decides to do that.
Player value is so difficult to really quantify since it also varies depending on the team.

Here's an interesting article with one viewpoint from late last year:
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap200000 ... arters-132

Kaepernick is ranked 15th by this person and, perhaps rightfully so, he points out that offensive coordinator performance in the game can have as much of an impact on Kaepernick's overall performance as anything else.

Look what I found. I could barely type it, my brain nearly melted.

2013 Two-Pointers Attempted: 69
Converted: 33
Percentage: 47.8%
2.15 attempts per team
1267 PAT's (18 times as many)

Now comes where my brain melts. Each team only had TWO FUCKING OPPORTUNITIES DURING THE WHOLE SEASON WHERE THEY COULD HAVE USED AN EXTRA POINT? About six teams attempted none. C'mon! Chip Kelly was a maniac on two-pointers with an amazing eight tries.

The response from kickers on this topic is almost comical:

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/10555 ... -gets-boot

Essentially, they like the fact that the kick is automatic and don't like the fact that when they start missing ~15% of PATs because of length, they'll be criticized.

If I were a kicker, I'd be pissed, too. It will take a little bit, but nobody will be going for the PAT until they need exactly one point to win or make it a two-score game (as they should be doing NOW!).

Joe, you said I should be happy, and I am in a way. A rule like this is going to have the unintended goal of sending two-point attempts absolutely through the roof, devaluing kickers, and moving one step closer to a one kicker/punter per team, and - ultimately - one step closer to a coach who doesn't punt or kick field goals ... which is where we should be.

To be fair, can you really blame them?

Let's be honest, there's no upside for them in this. Even at 35 yard, if they make em they won't exactly be praised.

Only negative things can come of this for kickers, seems obvious they wouldn't like it hence Corey posting it in the not so newsworthy thread.

not even trying to play devils advocate here but I think its good for kickers.

the tougher the kick will separate kickers even more and that should raise the value of a great kicker.

now if you suck, then its going to suck for you.

but the goal shouldn't be to just let guys coast by and not deserve their job.

Reports are saying Seahawks signed Michael Bennett to 4 years. Contrary to reports yesterday out of Chicago that he had reached a deal with the Bears.

I think it is funny two terrible franchises are now going after Revis in the Browns and Raiders. It is like these teams have zero interest in being good.

Demarcus Ware just became a free agent. Hoping my Bears go after him.

Revis is either the best or second best CB in the NFL. why wouldnt this move make their teams good? Haden/Revis in Cleveland is a scary CB combo

Revis used to be the best corner in the league. He's not even top 5 material IMO anymore.

EDIT: Both clubs will over pay him and he will be ineffective in two years.

I would've been happy getting a Swingline or a box of office pens for him. Maybe a few rolls of ankle tape.

Good player. Great against the run. Not bad against pass. He's a motherfucker. Plain and simple. He just goes out there and tries to fuck people up. Good dude.

On paper this looks to be a big addition to Denver's D,
