The perceived strength of the team is struggling. The hitters are near last in almost every category, while the pitchers are near the top. Did not think this is how the early part of the season would start but the Beef always starts slow.

I know how to use FIP for pitchers but what exactly is FIP-? I tried looking it up online but only get FIP explanations

Basically how that pitchers FIP compares to league average FIP. 100 would be average

So the lower the number the better? An 80 FIP- is better than 120 FIP- right?

Exactly. If you have an 80 FIP-, your FIP is 80% of league average, meaning lower than league average, which is good.
If you had 120 FIP-, your FIP is 120% of league average, which is bad.

It's like OPS+, but inverse since it's "-"

7 relievers seems like real overkill in this run scoring environment.

I've got 6, and I've contemplated going to a 5-man pen

Beaver bashers sent the Crabs packing! Then got put in the Vice!

I was looking at my pitching and Dobson threw 8 inning complete game loss 4-1. Then Rose throws 7 innings in 8-1 loss giving up 6 of those runs. Interesting settings I must have put for pitching changes

Interesting, I've been running a 7 man pen forever. Thought about going to 6.

the bullpen conversation is somewhat interesting to me. Always seems like i can get relatively "equal" use out of my relievers. So I have to says I have also thought about cutting it by one.

On the subject of pitching, for maybe 3 seasons of my 50 or so in the league i have run a 6 man rotation. I hate doing it, but do feel like it 'helps' sometimes.

I also don't have any top flight aces that i need to make sure are pitching as often as possible so I am sure that plays into it as well

I’ve always had a 7 man pen but 1 or 2 that barely get any work.

As far as 6 man I’ve never liked it as it’s hard enough to get 5 good pitchers that are playoff caliber. I will sometimes throw in a spot start if I have a stretch of games 13 days in a row and I have a bum team like Cookeville in there
