i feel like i had Winebrenner on NE when Dr Tom was still in the league

Still selling tickets and making the fans happy.

Looks like he will go into the HOF wearing a Steaks hat though he had 7 more WAR in Boston in 500 less games.

Agreed. I liked him as well and there is an opt out after year 4 and the value is solid as he is only 26.

Great speed, should walk a ton, and play a solid SS.

He's not a SS. If he is played there, he'll be a bottom 5-10 SS in the league.

His eye rating and the ability to walk is the only redeeming quality he has at the plate, and it's his only chance at being an average hitter.

I think he'll be one of those guys who gives you an OPS+ around 80-90. If he was an elite SS, this may be fine and he can get you, say, 3-4 WAR. But he won't be a good SS, so it's tough to see where his value is. $13mil isn't a ton of money, but I think he'll be a 2-3 WAR guy for the next few seasons at best.

His 82 eye will give him a damn near .350obp with how brutal the players eye ratings are in the NDLB

Weird, I see a range rating of 76 which is plenty at SS imo.

With 60 contact,90 eye and solid speed I could see a 4ish WAR type fella with potential for more on a big season.

76 would be doable, it would get him to avg SS territory.

My scout shows 70, OSA 73.



Of the roughly top 16 SS in the game last season based on ZR, 12 had blue rated range. Of the 4 that didn't, 76 was the lowest. So even at 76, he could top out at average ish. At 70, he'll be a below avg SS.

If Hank is smart he could dabble him at 2B in the spring to get that rating going and he would be a damn good 2B, solid SS.

Yeah, I think besides his eye you could find a rule 5 player that can be as good as him. He will be average SS at best and a below average bat. Sure he will walk but his OPS and slugging will suck and probably never have a ZR of more than +3 if he is a SS. That ain’t worth 100 million or 14 a year

Just going by overall, which I know isnt the end all be all of course, he is a fringe top 5 SS in the game right now.

No clue, but would love to know what Maddox was back in the early / mid 90's. He never overwhelmed anyone with the speed of his pitches, just location of them if I remember right.
