Revisiting the Boston Draft and assigning draft grades based on when the pick was taken, success, and future outlook of the player.
1. New Jersey: .329.... SS Alberto Ramirez- ML----D-/he traded him to Cookeville for a bunch of pretty mediocre players for a caliber of a Cactus and the #1 pick...not played very well
2. San Antonio: .353... SP Jesus Castillo- AAA----A-/Castillo is quietly one of the best up and coming arms in the league
3. Dillonvale: .378... SS Natsume Mochizuke- A/Well done by Niddler to take a small name and wasn't expected in this slot that looks to be one of the best young, emerging SS in the game...in Boston
4. Charlotte: .382... C Stu Kirk- ML---A+/Probably the smartest thing Kdog has ever done in this league let alone resigning him to that steal of a deal-best C in the league
5. Seattle: .390.... 3B Soh Yamamoto- ML---B+/once a backup IF in Boston and a relatively unknown when picked he has been quietly awesome in Seattle...again, better picks available at this slot
6. Omaha: .413.... LF Teruo Kondo AAA----B+/Came storming out of the gate with a 7+WAR season rookie season but has come back down to earth
7. SF: .419....1B Ben Mens MLB----A+/How this dude dropped to #7 had to be some major scouting disparity. The best player in the league not named Marino
8. Cincy: .444.... SP Jesus Guerrero- ML----A-/The best arm in the Boston system at the time but hasn't reached that true superstar status that was expected
9. Chicago: .452....SP Cris Arozco AAA---D-/Arguably the best reliever in the NL last year and still only 25 but not a top 10 pick
10. Toronto: .460.... SP Tom Young- AAA---B/He hasn't blossomed from what his potential was in the Boston system but dont blame the pick as he was a true 80 back in '18..but so was everyone else
11. Sheltown: .475... SP Hisaki Kikuchi- ML---A+/Involved in one of the most controversial trades last year but only 25 and ready to become an elite arm consistently
12. Los Angeles: .481.... OF Gonzalo Moreno- AAA---B+/Possibly the most versatile and best OF glove in the
13. Las Vegas: .485... SP Stephen Walker- ML---B+/Was not really considered a high prospect in the Boston system but he has turned into a solid arm and consistent seasons in LV
14. Philly: .491... SP 3B Jay Dillard- ML---B/He has never put it all together based on his elite ratings but is as consistent as they come.
15. Cookeville: .506... OF Jose Flores- ML---B+/I am giving a higher grade as he was an absolute stud coming up the Boston system but really dropped big time to only a marginal player. Cant blame the pick
16. Hillsboro: .510...SP Don Simmons-AAA---C-/Simmons never really turned the corner and I had him as mid 60s arm..now hes in the 30s
17. Houston: .510.... CF Arthur Webber- A---B+/Webber hasn't put it all together yet but he is only 25 and still some great ratings to try and turn a corner
18. NE: .512....SP Austin Ammons-AA---D-/Ammons was a low prospect in our farm and his record of performance is meeting that thus far
19. Steel City: .520...SP Chris Oliver-ML---A/Qaz took a gamble on the "old" guy in the draft and it paid off. He got Plummer and DLS out of a deal in sending him to Boston where he won a title...thanks!
20. Albany: .526... 1B Paul Montgomery- AA---A/I had him real high in my farm developing and thought no one would take him...damn you Baker..RIP
21. WF: .534.... OF Jarrod Jeavons- SA---B/Jeavons was a former #1 pick and we loved his makeup but he tailed off substantially in recent years and now may just be a utility guy going forward
22. OCD: .545.... C Greg McKnight- AA--A+/One of the best picks in this draft based on the picks and his potential. Stud Catcher
23. LB: .551.... SP Raul Herrera- SA---D/Herrera was a mediocre prospect and he has played out that way so far in his MLB career
24. Moose Jaw: .561... Asshole Shotgun Torres- ML---C+/Moose Jaw took the gamble on the next old guy as he was trying to get to the next level but he fizzled hard
25. Miami: .561 - Rafael Medina - SP - A---C-/Medina was high when we traded for him but he hit the wall hard and nick was nice enough to trade him to me...he sucks, thanks nick
26. Washington: .586...RP Jing-Sheng Shaw ML---B-/Should be a starter but the Crabs turned him into an ok reliever
27. PO: .588...OF Jeff Wells R---D-/Former Boston #1 pick but hasn't lived up to the pick and has tailed off into the 30s. Ratings look ok though but still in AAA
28. Bama: .609...OF William Robinson SA---B+/Robinson was rated very highly when picked and one of my favorite prospects but has since just been an average player...but only 25
29. Richmond: .627... CF Vicente Ramirez- AAA---C+/Ramirez is versatile but hasn't lived up to the ratings and has been bounced around for a while
