That's kinda all I need to know, that's plenty enough to tell me he didn't do enough.
That is not fact, therefore you don't know that. As soon as it's fact, I'll be right there with you. I'll turn my misdirected wrath from Dave, earlier, to you now... this time it's deserved.
Ok, got the quote:
Joseph V. Paterno testified to receiving the graduate assistant's report at his home on a Saturday morning. Paterno testified that the graduate assistant was very upset. Paterno called Tim Curley ("Curley"), Penn State Athletic Director and Paterno's immediate superior, to his home the very next day, a Sunday, and reported to him that the graduate assistant had seen Jerry Sandusky in the Lasch Building showers fondling or doing something of a sexual nature to a young boy.
1. Can we finally stop staying it's not fact therefore we don't know what Paterno was said?
2. Take back the, "this time it's deserved." Take it back now.
You're 0 for 2, Dave and I will be filing lible charges against you!!
I direct my wrath upon myself for the remainder of the day!
I was just typing that when you replied... I've read so much stuff in the last 48 hrs, it's hard to keep it all separated with out repeating it. Sad but true, as I sad, I stand with you guys on it based on that.
I have to think the the BOT has Spanier out tonight and Joe is gone next week. I do think Joe ends up coaching this Sunday, only because I think the BOT has their hands full and doesn't get the job done quick enough. I'd say it's incompetence on the part of the BOT not to have Joe removed, but after reading earlier about Gardan (sp? I think that was it), I'm thinking that is why this is all going to drag out a bit.
Reign, in the timeline you provided, Sandusky was doing this stuff while a member of Paterno's staff. I thought all this stuff happend after he retired. Given those facts, I find it hard to forgive Paterno. While he may not have done anything criminal he still allowed an environment that protected a monster.

The earliest Joe potentially knew anything about it was 1998. Sandusky mysteriously resigned shortly after.
Reign, I wasn't trying to be disrespectful, that's why I kept telling you that I didn't want you to "stipulate"--because i already knew that Paterno had given sworn testimony that he had been told. I just refuse to pull up the testimony (and am at work so don't want to delve too deeply anyways) and give direct quotes; luckily Shel was able to.
I was reading what you were saying, and I was confused to how you could keep defending him and saying "if" when he'd clearly made it known that he had heard about it.
I love how PSU just now comes out with an "outraged and saddened" statement. I'm starting to go from being stunned to angry to livid with the entire university now, and at this point I'm starting to wonder if the NCAA WON'T hammer them for lack of institutional control....and I have a feeling that what happens to them from the government and from donors/families/etc will be even worse. How any parent could send their child to a university that disregards multiple allegations, I'll never understand.

They wont because its not their jurisdiction. Ill give you $100 if you can find the part of the NCAA rule book where it indicates that having your coaches molest kids is a major violation.
Its just not going to happen. Otherwise it opens up a whole other area of compliance the NCAA has to monitor.
If JoePa gets fired for using the chain of command but nothing more, shouldn't the grad assistant, who is now a recruiting coordinator, get fired for doing the same?
I always want to smack her in the face after reading her articles, and I generally have zero interest in hitting a woman. She's the most extremist writer I've ever read. Everything is always 100% black or white and there is never an acceptable middle ground for her. I often can't believe ESPN employs a hack like her, but I guess she fills a female minority spot so that is good for them? I remember for a while they had to turn off comments on her articles because she would just get lambasted by everyone and their brother.
I'm fine if he walks away at the end of the season.
I'd also like to know where the outrage is in regards to parents or school administrators (from some of the high schools the victims attended) that it appears found out about what was going on, figured out how to protect or end the abuse with regard to their kids, but did nothing to follow up or press charges. These are people directly related to or directly responsible for the victims and yet everyone is enraged at JoePa because he was supposed to be more reponsible than reporting it to his direct supervisor and the head of the campus police department (which, in a place like Happy Valley, and this is just a guess, is probably more powerful than the head of the towns police)? Just seems like too much misdirected hostility.

Are there no bylaws in regards to protecting players or maintaining safety for them? I'm just wondering if that falls into LOIC

This is a criminal issue. Not an NCAA issue. No there are no bylaws with regards to protecting players and no bylaws to protecting guest (the victims) of the university. But there are plenty of state and federal criminal laws that will be applied to those responsible.

That's what I wasn't sure of. I wasn't sure if there were NCAA rules in place in regards to protecting student athletes, covering things up, etc. Either way, I'm hoping they get crushed.

They're going to get crushed as a football program without any outside agency doing anything. I really don't see any way the entire football and athletic administration survives this. As for recruiting, would you want to go and take a shower in those showers after practice now?

I get that now, I was just frustrated that you were referencing my comments and didn't appear to have read anything.
As for why they are just now getting a statement out... who was supposed to do it?
AD is gone. President appears to be going out. Next up is the BOT... and there appears to be a good chance that the Chairman of the BOT might be on the way out. That statement came from the acting AD now. It's messy... hard to speak without a mouth.

Hmm...
I'm shocked McQ isn't villian #2, as was just quoted from ESPN right now. How he is on campus is beyond me.
