Yeah... had someone do that to me 2 seasons ago. Now I just assume the player wants 150% of current. This ranks right up there with the "yeah, my scout shows him at 72 pot, your scout must suck, he only shows him at 53."

Trendon should have had bear sign him then trade him. I'm sure he was giving the discount to stay. In chi town is he loyal? If so trading him might affect his want to be on another team. I dunno. Sure don't think Bear was being slick.
I would have loved the bonus fan interest for signing him. I think he is at $14.7M or close to $15M, what is he asking for?
$16-$21 million and he is a Type B now, for whatever reason.
He was type B when you were talking about trading him

you would think a team that got swept by lowly INDY would have some respect  ? a little maybe?

We were always told to respect our elders, so we threw you a few pity wins. Next year, we'll beat you with your own cane.

Hey Reign, I'm confused about what happened to Claude Hopkins. I was going to release him anyway, so this is moreso just me trying to understand how it works.

He had cleared waivers, but he was showing as having 1 day left from being DFA'ed so obviously I know he wouldn't have accepted a AAA assignment, but i didn't even have the option to do so.

So if he was a younger player, you still would have released, but i never would have had the option to send him down, so i'm not sure what happened there.

I lose Ruiz, I think my season is over because Hayden STILL isn't hitting.....and somehow I go 6-1 despite getting no real offense outside of McMinn. I'm still not sure how I won 6 games, esp seeing who I played.

I was lucky enough to realize that I had a chance to move Vasquez off the 60 day DL and put him on the active when I put Ruiz on the DL, and then put him back on the 14 day, so when he comes off the DL in 2 weeks, I'll have him for the playoffs if I can somehow make it. Always nice to be able to bring back another SP just in time for the final stretch.

As for the playoffs, I'm voting for three nights because my lunch is from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm, so I could do the first round if I made it, but I'd be unable to really communicate w anybody and I don't want someone else "running" my team for the playoffs.

I can't wait to see how the AL playoffs unfold. Whether I make it or not I will still be watching if possible. All of the teams seem to be evenly matched and any one of the 8 teams that could make it can beat each other at any time. In all reality Port Orange will just dominate everyone again and contend for another title. On the flip side, the PL seems to have 2 teams that are destined to have a massive series in the LCS. Should be fun to watch all this play out.

He refused demotion. No where to put him. This is the downfall with our system... in cases like this, you're not going to have much of a chance to react. The only real way to prevent this from happening is to move DFA to 21 days and leave waivers at 14. This opens up more room for roster exploitation, but I could also use it as an opportunity to just be a complete hardass about DFAs and say that if you have someone on DFA and they aren't resolved, they get released, whether you have room or not. Because then there is more than enough time for the GM to be responsible for it.

In his case, I tried to demote him, because he cleared, he refused. I looked at the 25, it was full. I looked at the players age/ability/potential compensation/salary. He's old, he sucks, he had no compensation... the one hesitation was his salary. If this were April/May, I might even go as far as demoting someone on your ML team to avoid the 4m (I think that was it) hit. This late in the season, the cost was about 700k... so I booted him.

As for your reference about if he were younger... I'd probably look at his potential/value and try to make the best call possible. Obviously if your had Nick Cross sitting there, I wouldn't have chopped him.

I'm reading this again... you don't have to wait until DFA is 0 to execute it. The time left on DFA is how long you CAN stash them there, not how long you HAVE to stash them there. Maybe you misunderstood how DFA works?

Weird. I know it definitely said he cleared waivers but had day left on DFA, not sure if that's normal.

I'll be waiving more guys tonight so I'll see what it says again.

Bats have tied their franchise record for wins with 79, set last year (79-83). We have 25 games to break it. We also need just 4 more wins for the first winning record in franchise history.

I think we've got a good shot at both.

The Pipeliners are only 4 wins away from our win goal of 65 which would be 11 games better then last season. Shooting for 75 next season. Its a slow process in the Burgh'. If we stay the course we should accomplish a 90 win season in 3 seasons. Brewer is locked up. Hoping to get Lewis locked up this sim. If Brown continues to pitch well and Starks flashes the talent he is growing into it will all come together for McGee when he arrives in 2 seasons.

I don't think you're following.

Yes, he cleared waivers.
Yes, he had 1 day left for DFA.
You didn't process the DFA, so when I sim that day, he now has 0 and I have to make the move. DFA is set to waiver +1 now, so you have the chance to move them off. It's the GMs responsibility to make sure that number doesn't hit 0 and I have to do it. DFA isn't a requirement, they do not have to stay the full term.

Rough sim for SoCal. After only having a few hit & miss injuries this season, J. Quintana is possibly done for the season and M. Crow's incredible regular season is likely done. Crow should be back in time for the playoffs. Not a good time for the team to start breaking down.
