Kentucky punches their ticket to the BCS National Championship game with a huge win over #13 Alabama, 59-13. Kentucky jumped out to a 21-3 lead and led 28-6 at the half. The Wildcats then got a KR touchdown to open the second half from HB Coshik Williams, which likely sealed the Returner of the Year award for him, making the score 35-6. He would later add another 90 yd return that was stopped just short of the endzone.

HB Enrique Davis likely won the Heisman, with an absolutely dominant performance. He carved the Crimson Tide defense for 245 yds and 5 touchdowns on 39 carries, and also caught four passes for 38 yds and a TD. He finished the regular season with over 2000 yds rushing, a record-tying 38 TDs (which will certainly fall in the title game), and another 600+ yds receiving and 6 TDs. He, Williams, and QB Morgan Newton all averaged over 6 yds per carry this season, creating a three-headed monster that ran for close to 3300 yds on the season.

The Wildcats will now face Wisconsin for the National Championship. The question now becomes, if Coach Jsence wins the crystal ball trophy, will he stay at Kentucky, or will he move on for a new challenge, maybe in warmer weather?

We are on the nation championship game. Go Badgers........I mean Kentucky.

Also Temple somehow took town USC in a freaking crazy shootout 59-56 on a FG as time ran out. Hopefully we can move to players leaving later tonight and start our 24 hour off-season schedule.

Kentucky beats Wisconsin, 41-34, in one of the most exciting title games in history!

A game that was 3-0 at the end of one, Wisconsin made it 10-0 early in the second quarter. After one of UK's three INTs in the first half, Wisconsin was quickly up 17-0 and it looked bad. Kentucky was able to finally pick up the Wisconsin blitz, and Newton hit Randall Cobb on a deep sideline route for a 44 yd TD, after he beat his jamming CB. With just 93 seconds left, Wisky was able to drive down and get a FG to make it 20-7. Then Newton, with just 12 seconds left, got hit as he threw and Wisky picked him, setting up ANOTHER FG right before the half, to make it 23-7.

Kentucky knew they had to score immediately when they came out, and they went to the air. Newton finally made Wisky pay, as they overload blitzed and he escaped and took off for 26 yds into Badger territory. This backed them off a bit, and two plays later, Newton hit TE Fred Jackson for a 36 yd corner route to the endzone. Kentucky got a huge defensive stop when Wisconsin went for it on 4th and 1 at the UK 38, and they were able to knock down the pass. After a first down pass, Kentucky decided it was time to MAKE the running game work, and UK was able to run it 8 times in a row, each gain getting between 4 and 8 yds, finally capped by a 4 yd TD option keeper by Newton. IT was now 23-21 and a whole new ball game.

After a three-and-out, UK decided to use a set-up PA pass from the previous drive's running plays. And boy did it work--Newton faked the handoff and hit a WIDE OPEN Cobb for a 69 yd TD. Nobody was covering him, and the safety to that side had come down into the box. They failed on the 2px but led 27-23. Kentucky forced another three and out and headed into the 4th quarter with no idea of the unreal ending to come.

Less than a minute into the 4th quarter, Coshik Williams took it in from 10 yds out. Heisman Winner Enrique Davis had been hurt two plays prior and was out for the rest of the game, so they knew it was on his shoulders to carry the load, and he did so. KEntucky was now up 34-23. But Wisconsin wasn't finished. They would get a 39 yd FG with 2:57 left to make it 34-26. Kentucky drove down the field thanks to a HUGE HB screen pass against the ultra-aggressive Wisky D, as Newton dumped it to Williams and watched him slice his blockers, get past three defenders, and go 57 yds to the Wisky 13. Williams then rushed for 12 yds and a TD two plays later to make it 41-26, and seemingly put the game away.....

But Wisky wasn't done. They would drive down the field and got a 13 yd TD pass with 53 seconds left. After a 2pc made it 41-34, Wisky went for the onside kick--and got it. So with one timeout left, and 49 seconds, the drama began. Wisconsin would hit a 15 yd pass play and then 7 more and got out of bounds. Another completion for 8 yds, then a spike. Then UK DROPPED an interception with 21 seconds left. They would get another 15 yd gain down to the UK 13 yd line, before they spiked the ball with 11 seconds left. Still holding the one timeout, they were able to get a 9 yd gain on second down. They called timeout with the ball at the UK 4 yd line, with 3rd and 1 and overtime just four yards away. On third down, they went with a quick fade route, which UK's CB was able to bat down--but there was somehow still one second left. So on 4th down, Wisconsin lined up in ace formation and tried to run a HB screen. However, UK's DT read the play and rolled out with the HB, and the QB was hit as he tried a desperate throw to the endzone, and a linebacker for UK simply knocked the ball down to preserve the 41-34 victory and the national championship.

It was tight voting, but the MVP award was given to Morgan Newton, who went 15/24 for 338 yds, 3 TD and 3 INT, and also rushed 5 times for 46 yds and a TD. The game saw the two teams combine for over 900 yds of total offense, despite both defenses being ranked in the top 5 in the nation.

After leading his alma mater to the promised land, Coach Jsence wants to get out of the SEC for a while as it has become old-hat to him....and he will be going down to Austin, where he has agreed to a multi-year deal to coach the Longhorns of Texas.

I'm currently out of town (always head to the big metropolis of Des Moines, Iowa to party it up with old college buddies, on SB weekend, ha). No biggie for me to miss the "players leaving", but don't want to miss doing my "week 1 recruiting". I'll be home on monday late afternoon, and as long as we don't advance until 9-10pm, I can get my shit done. :D Would appreciate it.

We are in week 1 of recruiting. We will advance to week 2 Monday evening shortly after 11pm (est). I would really like to advance again Tuesday by like 7pm to week 3, and then again that night after 11pm to week 4, but if people are not done with week 2 by 7 I will wait to 11pm to advance.
