I cannot believe Heyward is making that much.
Re: 2049 Season Thread-Minute to Win It!!!
those are beyond brutal, but the season also isn't over yet. also goes to show how regression happens and how guys falling off more sporadically in OOTP would probably be way more realistic than the gradual ones we get.

Re: 2049 Season Thread-Minute to Win It!!!
Goes to show how bad baseball is at rewarding older players based on past history with insanely over valued contracts.
Our league would never give those contracts to anyone in their early 30s.

Re: 2049 Season Thread-Minute to Win It!!!
Shows how unrealistic our sim is...MLB is driven by late 20s/early 30s players. Handful of superstars that break out in early 20s but most are mid 20s guys. Our league has countless early/mid 20s superstars and anything over 27 we consider out of their prime. Most ML pitchers carry dominance well into their 30s and don't come close to dominating in their 21 22 and 23 year old years like we seem to see in OOTP. I've always thought development was way too fast in this sim.
Re: 2049 Season Thread-Minute to Win It!!!
I disagree, somewhat. There are some players who are studs early on but quite a few don't really mature and have an impact season until 25/26. We have plenty of pitchers pitching well in their 30's. Im just guessing but we have more superstars and stars in our league than the MLB does.dusters06 wrote:Shows how unrealistic our sim is...MLB is driven by late 20s/early 30s players. Supposedly we are going to see players develop more realistically in 18. Im really excited about the move to 18. It was a great decision!

Cubs are defending champs, Zobrist was 35 and the rest of the lineup was 26 and under. Pitching staff was a little older but either way I do not think our sim is way off. Look at that war chart Corey posted, there is huge risk in paying guys long term contracts even when they are in late 20s as you can see. I think our drop offs seem to be pretty realistic but I agree with Ry that we probably have more star players.dusters06 wrote:Shows how unrealistic our sim is...MLB is driven by late 20s/early 30s players. Biggest thing is our league has way too many blues and guys think that blues are great players but its just a color. Much of the makeup of guys who are blue you can clearly see are not ML regulars.

Are we not going to be able to see players personality traits on '18? Their Work Ethic, Intelligence, Greed, etc.

They only show the high and low ones.Wasted Memory wrote:Are we not going to be able to see players personality traits on '18? Their Work Ethic, Intelligence, Greed, etc.
It's also a manual option I had to turn on and it will be on for us.
Re: 2049 Season Thread-Minute to Win It!!!
That's only 1 example. The Cardinal, Giant, Red Sox, Yankee, Braves teams of years and several years past got it done with veterans mixed in with younger guys. I'm not saying we don't have guys in their 30s still shining, but we have way too many early 20s making HUGE impacts if you ask me. These same guys sign 6 year deals at under 10 mil per. Sorry to pick on Boston, but Bry Bri and Hoffman easily get 20-25+ mil per after the production they've shown. Todd honestly gets 30+ per in a more realistic sim. In a realistic situation, these guys don't take anything less than that because there are 29 other teams that would be willing to pay them. Can't hate on anyone for exploiting that, I get it. Just a few things I feel would make it more realistic and ultimately help the leaguewdoupis wrote:Cubs are defending champs, Zobrist was 35 and the rest of the lineup was 26 and under. We did put in measures for guys under 25 and it was a good addition.dusters06 wrote:Can't hate on anyone for exploiting that, I get it. Just a few things I feel would make it more realistic and ultimately help the league
Also, the game has gotten much better at handling these younger guys and them locking up for 10 years, $3mil...aka the Ted rule in the past.
The game was very bad at guys allowing 5+ years and taking very low amounts for their calibers.
It has gotten much better.
Re: 2049 Season Thread-Minute to Win It!!!
Isn't Boston living proof it hasn't really improved...? I think OOTP production vs demand curve is WAY off. I'm not sure what other factors there should be, but guys putting up 7 8 9 11 WAR seasons are certainly worth more than under 10 mil perCnasty wrote:The game was very bad at guys allowing 5+ years and taking very low amounts for their calibers.

Re: 2049 Season Thread-Minute to Win It!!!
No if anything it shows the improvement from where we have come from a time when you weren't in the league. Is is still perfect, not at all but how do you change that?
Back in the day I could have gotten Todd for about 8 years/$5mil.
Hoffman has low greed so i can see his deal. Bri has very high so he just gave us the hometown discount knowing we would be good for many many years.
