I'm sure this isn't new, but it's new to me as I hadn't read up much on Italy, but a couple of probable reasons why they're struggling as much as they are.
They are the 2nd oldest country in the world from what I've read. And population density, they're 2-3 times more densely populated than China and 5x times more than the US.
Italy has 500 people per square mile
The US has 94 people per square mile
New York City, 26k per square mile, with Manhatten at 66k per square mile

the biggest problem in Italy is they live in homes together.. so you got 3 gens under 1 roof.. and the thought is the young generation brought it home to home and gave to their grandparents and stuff.. Which is why I brought up PTSD cause grandchildren are essentially killing their grandparents.

Yea all of that is what everyone understands of what is occurring in Italy and why NY is becoming the new epicenter of the entire virus.

Over 50% of US cases now originate in New York. Using the World o Meters website, of the past 5000 cases added in the US, it is showing 95% coming from New York. Not sure how accurate that is, but that's what that site is showing.

I'd be interested in seeing the total cases/deaths per day in the US over the past 1-2 weeks excluding New York.

It seems we are moving toward a "younger people" back to work, "older people" stay home kind of plan.
Trump will not keep this country closed.

As long as we have mass testing in place, this seems solid to me.
Funny though, I have a friend who said they are presumed to have Coronavirus. I asked what that meant, she said she has all the symptoms, but they aren't giving her a test, just treating the symptoms. I get the idea behind it, but it seems like the more we know who has it, the better. Just thought it was odd she couldn't get the test...and she works for a hospital.

You wont get the test unless you are showing extreme symptoms at this point in a area of short test availability.
They are also developing a blood test that will tell you if you already had it and if you have the antibodies already to possibly release you back sooner rather than later.
That seems a wayssss off though.

This Fox News virtual town hall is a nice touch.
I wish it was with Dr. Fauci though and not Pence/Trump at this point.

My wife is still waiting on her results.
We do not expect them to be positive since she was confirmed to have Bronchitis and everything I read says if the Coronavirus gets bad, it turns into pneumonia, but we will see.

Hong Kong media is reporting that symptomatic people in Wuhan are being denied tests in order for China to continue on with the "No new cases" reports.

so turns out health care workers are dying because of the "viral load" at hospitals.. This disease can get worse and worse with every contact you make with someone who has it.
from Reddit:
Im curious how did he die if he was that young? I thought the survival rate for younger is like really high
Healthcare workers are exposed to a much higher viral load. The higher viral concentration can overwhelm the immune system in the same way people comorbidities have a diminished immune response. That’s why most of the younger people who are dying they don’t have other health issues are health care workers directly dealing with infected patients.
Think about viral load like you would think about D-Day. Its literally an invasion of your body by external enemies. Does one division land on your beaches or 39 divisions? One can be dealt with in a few days. 39...not so much.
thats some scary shit.

I mentioned their age in the random posts. They have the oldest age among Europeans, I think it was 43 years old compared to the rest of Europe being 38.

If that was the case it would be a huge problem in most countries. South Korea they have generations living together. The Kurdish people are the same way as are Iraqis. Philippines again the same. All of those countries are nowhere near what Italy is experiencing.
I think this is 100% an age thing in Italy, or younger people with multiple underlying issues

I wonder where I have heard this before?
But it the younger generation is going back to work they need to distance themselves from the older population and away from anyone that has health issues.
