Just when Cleveland looked good on getting that title and bron Golden State comes and sweeps away the basketball world.
Oh Cleveland.
Oh Cleveland.

Toronto's gonna be representing the East in the finals anyways
Re: NBA 2015-2016 Thread
Man that would be great. As a diehard Bulls fan I say eff Lebron.nick wrote:Toronto's gonna be representing the East in the finals anyways
Re: NBA 2015-2016 Thread
im kdn we're def not rdy for Cleveland in a 7 game series but I think this team is real close to being the beasts of the east. In Masai I trust. Having a lottery pick thats getting better and better each day thanks to the Knicks drop is also nice. This is a strong draft would be sweet to get a Jamal Murray type
Re: NBA 2015-2016 Thread
Masai is one of the best GMs in the league so that team will only get better. I would favor the Cavs but I think that Toronto has a real shot. Especially if Carroll can come back and get close to 100%. That Cavs team still doesn't flow great.nick wrote:im kdn we're def not rdy for Cleveland in a 7 game series but I think this team is real close to being the beasts of the east. In Masai I trust. Ok, I'm officially ready to take Curry over Lebron.
I just finished watching the GS-OKC game. I never witnessed anything like I watched tonight with Curry, just nutty.
Ray Allen made at least ten 3s in a game once in his career of over 1300 games, and he was widely considered the GOAT 3 pt shooter before 2 years ago. Curry's made ten 3s in each of his last 2 games, tying the all time record tonight with 12 of em including the game winner from only 32 feet out with .6 seconds left in OT.

I don't think a triangle and 2 would work against himSeeitsaveit13 wrote:Anyone ever try to just play Box and 1 against GS, and lock Curry off?

Re: NBA 2015-2016 Thread
For a while, thanks to my Burnt Orange colored glasses, I was taking KD over everyone. But midway through last season I saw the 4k HD light. Curry, if he can stay healthy has supplanted himself in the top 5 of all time at any position. Where he lands will be determined by his health in the next 5 years.shel311 wrote:Ok, I'm officially ready to take Curry over Lebron.

I'd take my chances 4 on 4 versus them if I could take Curry out of the mix.
It's either:
A. Not as simple as I'm making it out to be (likely this one)
B. They don't want to put that much effort into the regular season, lol

need to know what you're talking about here.shel311 wrote:Ok, I'm officially ready to take Curry over Lebron.
if you're talking about right now, definitely Steph and it hasn't been really debatable in a while. this is either the best season of all time or at least in the conversation with a small handful of others.
if you're talking about all time. Steph needs to do this a little longer

Re: NBA 2015-2016 Thread
Nah, not all time. I've recognized that Curry has been better since last season but all along if you gave me 1st pick in a fantasy draft for a playoffs, I'd still take Lebron.
I'm ready to make the change now.

Re: NBA 2015-2016 Thread
think of the NBA and defensive schemes as a sword that's been sharpened to the absolute sharpest edge there is, what you're talking about is taking a wooden club to the fight.Seeitsaveit13 wrote:Anyone ever try to just play Box and 1 against GS, and lock Curry off?
the reason Curry is so valuable is because of the spacing he provides. In the NBA you're essentially trying to get 1 inch of rotation that allows the ball to be passed around before the rotations can catch up. this is why you see p&r to start just about every set to try to get that dislocation and force the d to react/rotate. its basically the only option there is because of how good and athletic these guys are defensively. the ball can move faster than the player so the only advantage they have left is ball movement. which is why teams like GSW and SA excel and teams like NY and the Lakers and even the Heat to a degree can get so stagnant offensively because their high usage rate players are ball pounders. the ball stops when it gets to Kobe or Melo or even Wade to an extent and especially Whiteside.
so with that said and the importance of spacing, a guy like Curry extends the court by an additional 4 or 5 feet so the amount of space the defense needs to rotate is exaggerated and provides even more wide open looks. you combine that with 5 capable passers and 4 capable jump shooters (5 when they sub out Bogut) and you get a basically unstoppable offense. the inverse could be said about a guy like Rondo who retards the spacing as defenders can sag off him since he's not a great shooter which hurts spacing.
if you go into a box 1 on him, which teams sort of do, you'd be leaving enormous space gaps that they'd exploit with even more wide open shots. thats when a guy like Draymond excels because he's a great 3rd option who can get into space as a passer, physical playmaker and capable shooter.
the NBA is a different sport than college because in the NBA a wide open jumper isn't being missed very often, in college guys can cheat and over-rotate and play poor positional defense but the offensive talent doesn't always capitalize with not as many open shots knocked down. so you can trap and scramble in and play zones in college. in the NBA you'd get sliced apart doing that

its a hard question. Curry's value is certainly magnified by the surrounding parts. Lebron can play any 4 other guys and he's going to be pretty similar to what he is now

Re: NBA 2015-2016 Thread
Lebron isnt even a top 15 fantasy option anymore.shel311 wrote:Nah, not all time. I've recognized that Curry has been better since last season but all along if you gave me 1st pick in a fantasy draft for a playoffs, I'd still take Lebron.

in a traditional fantasy roto league, he still is around 10. he only dropped off cause he's not hitting as many 3'snick wrote:Lebron isnt even a top 15 fantasy option anymore.shel311 wrote:Nah, not all time.
