If it crashed there's no way it would stay in tact when it hit the water though. Gotta be sizeable pieces

Those seat cushions better float or I've been lied to by a lot of flight attendants.

If there was a bomb, they're ashes at this point

For it to vaporize every thing on that plane to the point that no single shred of wreckage can be found, well... to my understanding that would have to be one tremendous bomb to be carried onboard by two guys. It would have to be in their carry on because the stowed luggage is thoroughly checked these days if I remember correctly, which makes it even more unlikely.

Found out last night too. I really need to get more news into my life.

I usually utilize the NDL for that but we have been seriously slacking.
Just get the cnn I phone app. Every now and then it will send you a little notification if planes disappear or famous people die. It's a solid way to not miss important shit.
Does it send you notifications for actual important shit?

+1

There is no bomb known to man besides maybe a nuclear missile that will vaporize an entire plane, its contents, and 230 people. The more and more this drags on with no findings, the LOST script doesnt look too far fetched now.

It was an example.

It's usually like "obama blah blah blah" "ukraine blah blah putin blah" "plane dissappears" "so and so was 94 and died but they were famous once" "it's really fucking cold in 90% of the US blah blah"

It's good to keep you posted on main shit though

Didn't really watch that show... How'd they explain the disappearance in the show? (as far as rationalizing why no one found them etc?)

Pilot suicide
Instant explosion from a bomb or other

There was no distress call meaning it happened instantly or the pilots shut it off and dive bombed it.
Even if they crashed it though they said there would be some remnants of a crash. They said its more likely it was an explosion meaning it would be in millions of little pieces.
The thing I can't get my head around is the debris...

They blew it up? I get that. But there HAS to be some pieces. It didn't just vaporize like Marvin Martian hit it... There have to be some pieces right? I know it's a big area, but it's hard to believe they can't find anything. Mind bottling.

They did find some remnants of an oil slick on Saturday but no pieces around it

If the plane exploded at 35,000 feet, then the remnants would be very small and would be scattered over a massive area.

If the plane went down intact, then it wouldn't break apart until it entered the water, and much of it could be submerged.

They are testing the oil to see if it is jet fuel or from a ship, they will know sometime today.

As for news, I prefer the Guardian app. Better reporting, less bias, and more world info.

Well.....now we're back to square one. I feel so awful for the families of those missing
KUALA LUMPUR (AFP) - Samples taken from an oil slick off Malaysia are not from missing Malaysia Airlines plane based on a chemistry lab analysis, an official said on Monday.

"The oil is not used for aircraft," Maritime Enforcement Agency spokesman Faridah Shuib said, adding that it was a type used by ships.

Wow.

All that time spent within that area and its not even the jet fuel.

Needle in a haystack at this point unless some massive typhoon comes along and blows stuff up on shore.

Mariska Hargitay (Olivia Benson on Law and Order:SVU) is making a documentary called "Shelved", focusing on the severe backlog nationwide of untested rape kits in the United States. Currently over 400,000 are sitting in storage, either forgotten or waiting to be tested.

This week, 11,000 of these kits were discovered in this warehouse in Detroit:

Image

The prosecutor in Detroit has made it a top priority to have these tested. The scary thing is, they did tests on a small sample of these and discovered over 100 serial rapists
Worthy says there are numerous crimes, including rapes and killings, that would have likely been avoided had Detroit police and its now-defunct crime lab not let the kits languish.

So far funding, all from grants or donations, has allowed for the testing of 1,600 kits. Of those, DNA identified 100 serial rapists, meaning the DNA appeared in at least two kits or were tied to suspects in other cases.

Fifty-nine percent of the DNA tested matched DNA submitted to the national database (CODIS, the Combined DNA Index System), leading to 14 prosecutions.

She's used the example of Shelly A. Brooks, who killed and raped five women after the date on one of those forgotten kits.

The small portion of tested kids revealed rapists that also committed crimes in 23 states, plus the District of Columbia.

The kits are being sent to private labs at a cost of $1,200 to $1,500 per kit, which equates to a total cost of more than $13.5 million to test all 11,303.

As someone who knows victims of sexual assault, it absolutely infuriates me that this is happening. These women who are brave enough to endure a very invasive, four hour exam just hours after suffering through a brutal assault are being forgotten and get no justice; yet we spend how many millions going after people that sell a few ounces of weed on a street corner?

If you want to get involved or help those who deserve justice, please go to http://www.endthebacklog.org and take a look around, or tell others to help raise awareness of this. As a survivor of sexual abuse, this is a cause I care deeply about and those who are brave enough to step forward, admit what happened to them, and endure the pain and shame that often comes from submitting a rape kit deserve to have their actions rewarded with justice and peace of mind.
