Re: my annual college hoops thread
if pitt cant hit 3s they are finished
fields is good but without 3s...game over.
pitt is not as strong consistantly as louisville and uconn

Re: my annual college hoops thread
the key to Pitt is Sam Young. look at all their losses, Young plays bad, they get beat.
Fields is good, but he's a complimentary player... he's not going to take a game over on his own. Blair is consistently going to put up a double double unless he gets into foul trouble, so overly worrying about him is a waste, just need to always keep a body on him and not let him get 20 and 20.
Focus on stopping Young, let Blair do his thing and you have a chance if Pitt is cold.
I still picked Pitt to make the elite 8 so lets not make it like i'm bashing them, i'm just pretty positive they won't be able to win 6 straight and i think they are a likely squad to get bounced because they don't have much guard play to create baskets and Blair is foul prone.

Re: my annual college hoops thread
Im really looking foward to the matchups first round.
Gonna be a wild year.
I may be a homer...but I like UCLA coming from the outside this year to make some Sweet 16 to Elite 8 noise.

UCLA is quietly sneaking under the radar....so i ASU. USC plays UCLA tonight and if we win were back on the bubble.jeffdaddy wrote:Im really looking foward to the matchups first round.

A lot of people have stopped talking about Wake Forest I like them sneaking in kind of far.

Re: my annual college hoops thread
i think the key to beating Pitt is LeVance Fields. He was a defensive liability yesterday when he had to guard Alex Ruoff. Obviously DeJuan Blair being in foul trouble is important, but i'm gonna be worried about my Pitt +920 wager if Fields has to guard someone with a height advantageLGF wrote:if pitt cant hit 3s they are finished

Re: my annual college hoops thread
I love me some ASU and Harden.
He is a bad bad man.
I wasnt to impressed what I saw from UCONN previously but last year with Price,Thabeet, and if Robinson plays like the freak he can be I came away more impressed with them.
I love Pitt due to the 3 headed monster they have.
Such a wide open field this year with no dominate favorite in my opinion.

Re: my annual college hoops thread
I think UNC has to be the favorite.
I am so sick and fucking tired of watching Hansborough get foul calls on offense then the refs holding their whistle while hes on defense. He just got away with a reach against Va Tech that sealed their fate and he bugs the shit out of me.
Not to mention he looks like fucking Beaker from the muppets.

And Dave also watching UCONN last night I do not like them in a close game at the end, they had very poor shots in almost every OT to go for the win.

Re: my annual college hoops thread
thats great, wonderful and probably true... but shot selection at the end of a game/OT is a very random event and i'm not too concerned about that when picking teams to advancepacksyD22 wrote: And Dave also watching UCONN last night I do not like them in a close game at the end, they had very poor shots in almost every OT to go for the win.
point being, they've also won alot of close games coming down the stretch with big shots in their last possessions... up until last night you'd have said they were good coming down the stretch of games and closing people out
game winners and shit like that is alot more chance/luck then anything else

Re: my annual college hoops thread
Did they really?!?!?!?!? Man I am pist someone came up with it before I did.
Re: my annual college hoops thread
my four #1's would be
1) UNC -- the loss doesn't hurt as much considering Lawson was out
2) L'Ville -- Won reg. season and tourney in best conf
3) Memphis -- Doesn't deserve the #3 overall, but the committee prob doesn't want 2 big east teams as #1's on same side
4) Pitt
my #2's would be
5) Duke -- winner of ACC, will either be here or 7 spot
6) UConn -- unless they sneak to the 4th #1, they have to land here imo. They wont put them as a #2 with Pitt or L'Ville and no shot they end up with UNC so the Memphis bracket is the only possible spot for UConn
7) OU
8) Mich St
I honestly don't see any way this isn't the 1's and 2's. Only possible switch ups could be the order of 5,6,7
