Lets not pretend anyone could put in the equal work Cutler does and be an NFL QB...he is one due to his god given ability. So I personally dont buy the fact that he works soooo hard.
To me the work he puts in isnt much different than what a doctor has to put in. The 'hard work' is implied based on the job you choose.
With out these "asshole Gms/owners/coaches"...what real use does Cutler's skill set have? none. So to me, they have the right to improve their business, and if that involves trading shaq or cutler or whoever, then so be it. its the life these athletes chose. Im sure it could have been handled a little more professionally, but thats life. shit happens.
Im just tired of reading articles about how multimillion dollar athletes FEELINGS are hurt. I couldnt care less.
sure to start off you need god given talent... this we can agree on.
but you don't think there are another 1000 guys out there that DIDN'T make the NFL that have god given talent because they didn't work as hard as the guys who did?
For every Cutler, there are 100 guys that decided to party in college instead of work to get better.
sure saying "lifting weights? play games? practice? study film" is an easy way to trivialize what they do... but they do this shit every day from probably age 13 to age 35 or so. and i wouldnt say all those things are so easy. we were both athletes, both played college sports... i sure as hell didn't have what it took to get up every day at 6 am, do double sessions, work on my own time to get better, go to practice, go running etc etc and i consider myself a hard worker and a mentally tough person. i can honestly admit to myself, i couldn't do it, it was too much. to do all that work then come out and have a bad game or not play as much as i would have liked was mentally grueling on me.
i never said doctors don't work hard... the good doctors out there work incredibly hard to get where they are. same with the best of just about every
skillful profession. and i respect all of them the same.
as for the gms/owners/coaches... they have their jobs. they have a responsibility to make their team better. they can cut you/release you/trade you/do whatever they want as long as they do it in a fair and professional way. you keep saying "this is the life the athletes choose", i dont think they choose to be treated unprofessionaly and thats all i'm talking about. I never once said that being traded or released or any of that wasn't part of the job, i certainly realize it is. but these gms/owners/coaches are out for themselves and their teams, why shouldn't the player be looking out for himself.
i really think the fan can't get past the money aspect of pro sports and they almost demonize the player because of the money they make, that to me is unfair
