shel311 wrote: Thu Sep 17, 2020 11:42 am Anyone know a good place to get a good side by side comparison of PS5 vs XBox Series X.

Since I've mostly phased out my PS4 in favor of XBox, all along I've just assumed I'll go XBox. But I guess I should try to really see what both of them offer.
XBox is far superior. if you stay PS at thi9s point its just cause more ppl u know have it + you're a ps fan boy (in general, not you).

The XBox is slightly better in terms of raw numbers.
XBox CPU at 3.8 GHz vs PS5 at 3.5 GHz - Both AMD Zen 2 processors.

The GPU difference will be interesting to find out what difference it truly makes as Sony uses a different technology in their chipset, so it remains to be seen how this will play out.
While the XBox has higher teraflops at 12 at 1.825 Ghz, the PS5 has 10.3 at 2.23 GHz.

The PS5 can push through data faster at 5.5GB per second compared to the XBox at 2.4GB per second, so load times and cut scenes and other things like that will be much less on the PS5.

They both have 16 GB of memory, they have 1 TB vs 825 GB of storage, so not a big difference there.
They both support 4k and 8k gaming.

So to say it is far superior is simply not true. Yes, the numbers look better, but it will be interesting to see how it all plays out.
Not to mention, they are not true PCs. Games are made strictly for them, so the numbers will not matter nearly as much as a true pc.

Haha

What's the advantage of a disc drive version for an extra $100? I say this because I literally play maybe 2 or 3 games in a 2 year span.

They're pretty obvious George.

Play a PS4 game (most should be compatible with the new system) that you have on disc. Watch a Blu-ray or 4k movie you own on disc. Purchase and play PS5 games on disc vs digital (offline if you want to if the game doesn't require online).

I honestly didn't know watching movies from a disc was a thing anymore with all the digital content out there. I haven't bought a blu-ray disc in probably 10+ years

I will probably buy the disc version just so my ps4 games I can still play and not need my PS4 system.
That or I can move my PS4 into my son's room and let him use it for netflix and ps4 games, etc.

Xbox X pre-sale tomorrow.

Couple of quick questions...

1. Do you think any one site may be better than others to pre-order? Currently planning to just do Amazon.

2. Do you think it'll be one of those things you gotta be on early and get it immediately and they'll run out quickly?

Yes, be early.

Amazon, not sure. That's what most people will think of. Possibly have better luck with something like Target which isn't people's first thought for online preorders? Just get someone else to help and you can cover a few sites, then cancel if you get more than one accidentally.

Target, B&H photo, Sams Club, Walmart, Amazon, Best Buy and GameStop are about it anymore for system preorders.

Will it be sold out quickly or be readily available again in a month is my question about the XBox.
Should I buy one with the intent to sell on say, Ebay, or will it not be worth it?

Done.

Got it directly through Microsoft within about 10 minutes or so.

Pretty easy.
