Both. The desktop is the 'mothership' so to speak, where you actually assign your budget in different categories. The app is where I log all of my transactions (although you can do this from the desktop as well). So I buy gas, I open the app, log the transaction, and Im done. It auto syncs with the desktop, and others with access to the budget (my wifes app). In the app store, the "classic" edition is the older one without subscriptioncougnix wrote:

Re: Acorns App
i have been doing that since i was about 16 or 17, except i write it all down in a daily planner. i still use it and get the most hysterical stares when i open it up to look at my day in the elevator.

Re: Acorns App
As in, you write all your daily transactions in a planner? Im gonna have to mention that next time someone busts my nuts for logging it in my phone. "But I know a nerd who physically writes it!"

Re: Acorns App
I checked out YNAB in the past but it didn't seem to fit well into ease of access and such and no way in hell my wife is logging things she buys.
Now it sounds like it has improved.
I am intrigued!

Re: Acorns App
If your wife isn't logging, it probably won't work. It took time to get my wife consistently logging things, which meant me going through credit card statements online and adding in purchases she forgot to input. Took a few painful months to get her into the habit but now it's second nature and great. In a month there may be a couple transactions missed but nothing big

Re: Acorns App
I'm always looking for stuff like this...it adds up quickly. Lately when I'm feeling the urge to go spend money on something I don't need like a game or shoes or whatever, I'll instead buy a share of stock on Robinhood and find it scratches the same itch. This year I've saved around $6k+ extra just from that.
Aside from Robinhood I've thrown some of that same money at bitcoin through the app Coinbase...maybe a dumb investment but if it takes off then that's great...if not, I didn't invest more than I care to lose. Again I'll just throw $20-$100 at it here and there and watch it add up.
