I had the same ps2 since it was first released and never a problem. Sold it for $80 also.

I had pretty good luck with the PS2. I bought one the first day it was released and had it for about 6-7 years before it broke. I bought a second one that ran good until I traded it in for my PS3.

Back in business...bought a new laser off of eBay and fixed it myself...and bought a back up blu-ray drive in case this shyt happens again I can quick swap while repairing the current drive.

ajalves...thanks for the props..but its really not that hard to do at all. Just followed the steps some guy posted on the PS3 forum. Overall it was a $65 dollar fix and 20 minutes of free time, its alittle unfortunate that for disc read issues that sony is charging people 150 bucks.
