I agree, just wonder where we are headed as a league. This season has been a disappointment for me, 5 sims and looks like Conf Champ will be a sim too. I just like to play the game, dont enjoy other games like others in this league do (although I wish I did).

Breaking Bad ends this week and now this from NCAA. I think I'll tell the wife to hide the knives.

Maybe convert to a Madden Franchise League, and kind of run it with a relegation system similar to soccer in England since there are less teams?

uf, as far as all the simming and everything, that is why buckeye had a signup thread for this season coming up so we have only active coaches.
I also sent an email to every coach that had 6 games or less played and copied buckeye on all of those so we were able to see who responded and were more active.
So this next season should be better.


As far as the NDL, we may shift to another game, we may make it where there is no 1 particular game that is required, but the NDL will go on.

And I still don't doubt that some type of college football game comes out.
We heard not to long ago that the NCAA itself was not renewing it's contract with EA anyways, so it would have been up to the individual schools, so we will see if they work something out or what happens.

But again, as far as the NDL, I am sure we will find something to entertain us.
buckeye and the guys at the top will keep this going. We just need to work together to figure out what is best for the league.

It's a blessing in disguise for the NDL with how much time is spent on setting things up and reconciling a season with the man hours involved behind the scenes.

The NDL hasnt been about NCAA for a while now as there are just too many better quality, entertaining games out and NCAA is a rehash every year.

We have seen our numbers drop where we cant even fill every team, a record number of sims, and lack of NCAA interest.

The NDL was going to an era of being a gaming community and not an NCAA one.

This has zero reflection on how it was run or managed as times have changed and Matt does an amazing job for what he has had to work with. The glory days of NCAA are long gone.

I'm excited to see what comes of the NDL and options of different gaming scenarios.

If we won't be doing NCAA next year and it's going to be more about the other games, I'm curious as to what the admission standards for the NDL (or whatever it's going to be called) will be. If we're not getting new blood and we're bound to have some people leave, then the site is just going to die a slow death.

Personal feelings aside, I think one way or another a "shift" was coming for the NDL. Can only milk a cow so long.

If I had to guess ( ), I'd think plans for the future of the community were being hashed out.

Its sort of a double whammy so to speak. No more NCAA coupled with the launch of the PS4

Regardless, this could be a chance to improve things.

Predictions of doom have been with the NDL for years now. "One day this will all be gone" and rumored squeakings of "Hey, I don't think this league will last more than two years from what I've heard" have been said for years now.

However, none of them were prompted because the FUCKING GAME WASN'T GOING TO MADE ANYMORE! Who saw that coming>?

I hear ya and not to be a jerk but you missed all the great years of the NDL when NCAA was at its highest interest and the farm was packed with guys drooling to get in. It was quite impressive.

I dont want the newer guys to remember the NDL for the last 2 versions as that was not the NDL we all knew to grow and love.

I am with trendon. Never thought there wouldn't be a game. Was an awesome ride. Ndl however evolved a long time ago for the majority. There are other games that are far more entertaining. Ootp ,FIFA ,GTA, COD, battlefield, demon souls, risk, Tetris, hungry hungry hippos, etc.

Going to be interesting to see where we go. No doubt that we have been moving the NDL away from being NCAA-centric for some time now. No doubt that diversification was going to be the key to the NDL’s continued success. However, nobody could have predicted that the game would no longer be made. I don’t think that possibility was ever even discussed.

I think we just need to become a one-stop shop for league play. We have Madden, FIFA, basketball, whatever. We have a great system in place for doing stats and all that stuff. We just need to go with smaller leagues of different flavors.

We can re-brand the website and start to introduce the other leagues that we will be supporting. I really don’t see any other way this site grows other than to go from NCAA-centric to League-centric.

I do worry about this. It's a bit of a double-edged sword in that like you said, if we don't get new guys in, we die a slow death. If we let a ton of new, unscreened guys in, the quality of the members and boards and leagues may suffer a great deal.

But that's why we have great leaders in place, I have confidence that they'll find a balance and keep the NDL party bus hopping like a Bryant McKinnie party bus!!!
