Re: Tiger Woods 14: 3/26/13
I've changed my mind to "on the fence". Are we going to go with created golfers or in-game? What is going to happen when the inevitable happens and there are 3-4 guys shooting 10 shots better than everyone else a round?
I really like that you can play with 2-24 players at a time online. That could be a lot of fun.

Doesn't matter to me. User golfers are not going to be good to begin with, just need to keep that in mind. I still think we have to see what the new CC is going to offer. We might be able to go to strictly CC tourneys and just keep track of some sort of money list here. I'll be sure to set up the NDL Country Club once we can start setting them up.
As far as some guys being better than others, I'm not sure what we can do to combat that unless we try and institute some sort of handicap system. How we would do that, I'm not sure.

Some guys are just going to be better than others, simple as that. I'm one of the worst at NCAA (and usually every other gameDowning11 wrote:Doesn't matter to me. Settings/Level of play? Honestly I was loving the hardest level last year (cant remember what it was called), no spin, no swing meter, no green grid, etc...makes it real hard, like real golf. But once you get a hang of it, you can shoot -6 to -10 on a good day. I know that probably won't slide in our CC, but I'd rather not see the easiest settings either. Maybe try and find a medium between the two. IDK, i'm not running it, just giving my opinion.

I would be in favor of leaving the green grid on. Everything else I would be fine with losing, The problem without the green grid is you have no clue where or what the ball is gonna do. I can't even get a general idea without it.

Re: Tiger Woods 14: 3/26/13
The demo is now available.
Just a demo, but looks good and it has more options for customization this year. I think the item of contention this year is going to be the Shot Shaping option. There have 3 options, Off, Normal and Advanced. Off lets you swing the stick straight up and and down for every shot. Normal is the same, except for drawing and fading the ball you have to swing to the left or right a bit to get the desired shot. Advanced means you are not moving the stick straight up and down on every shot. The lower irons are basically up and down, but the longer irons have you swing the club from lower right to upper left. The angle is slightly different per club, but basically it is harder to hit longer clubs than shorter ones, which is accurate for real golf.
I played with normal first, and I see no difference to my skill from last year. I hit every fairway, stuck every iron shot and was putting fine. Advanced is ALOT harder. Maybe it just takes getting used to, but it took me about 10 tries to just hit a fairway. I can see this option as being frustrating to some. Try it out and post here what you think.
I was playing with Tiger Woods, so that probably has something to do with the skill level. Using created golfers will probably be harder at first until the guy is built up.
They have a couple other options which are nice. My favorite being the strike icon. You can default it to always hit the center of the ball, have an analog fade, or just straight analog which I think is the best. If you are in the rough, you have to use the right stick to "hold" the analog cursor where you want to hit the ball. It is similar to last year but last year you could really only mess around with hitting higher or lower on the ball. This year you can get bad lies and have to not only hit the center of the ball, but you might also have to move the cursor left or right just to get to the center of the ball. Kind of hard to explain, but you'll see once you give it a shot.
Let me know what you guys think.

Re: Tiger Woods 14: 3/26/13
Been playing a bit more and I really like the Advanced shot shaping. The best I have done on the 3 hole demo is -2, however, I probably average around even par and have been over par at times. It makes things much more challenging than hitting the fairway and green all the time. The thing I will have to get used to is using a lefty golfer rathing that the righties in the demo. I think the Fade righty shot shape should be the same as a Draw for a lefty so I should be fine.
Anyone else giving this some play?

CC = Country Club
Downing (I'm assuming) will create a CC online (in game) for all NDL members to join. Once in, you can compete in daily and weekly tournies against other NDL members. The daily tournies are just 18 holes, weekly tournies are 72 holes, and both can be going on at the same time. Every time you play a round you gain points for our club, that includes playing offline, online or a CC event. Anytime you play it'll give our CC points, which competes against other CC's for ranking purposes, if you're into that.

I actually already created the CC online.Baker wrote:Weasel wrote:no idea what this CC is

It was a 5 character minimum for the name, so I created The NDL. The password is ndlndl. Sign up!!!!!!

Negative. I won't be getting this until Wednesday night as I'm travelling for work on Tuesday. I figure I will give people through the weekend to practice/get used to the new game before setting up daily and weekly tournaments on the CC.OracleHCR wrote:Anybody download the early release?
