I thought triangle meant that when you hit it, your player tried to make the catch. So if you timed it wrong, you were screwed. Now, it sounds like you can just hold it down and the computer will make the play at the right time for you if you're in the right position.

Seems way too good and kind of pointless. Might as well just start calling the plays and having the computer do everything for us.

I can assure you this way, it has always been.

I've made a "living" off of having decent user skills and all those seasons I've done well on D and been top 3 in INTs or whatever the case, most user picks I got was from sitting on the triangle button, usually from the moment the ball is thrown, unless I have to keep sprinting to get in position.

It hasn't been the way you said, where you gotta time it, in years, at least not for me

Well that sucks. Maybe that explains why my guys never catch the ball anymore.

So they really nerfed the need for user ability and timing at some point.

i didn't learn that til last season... and i've had about a million user picks since then.

i heard alot of biching about user stuff this year, but i actually found this years user picking to be easier than ever. my MLB i user control has like 5 int's in 6 games i think

I think the biggest issue for me is you cannot square up by using L2. I would honestly put my user in Madden 12 up against anyone, but the reason why is because I was so good at squaring up and making a play. Now it just feels like my guy is sliding on ice.

Is this also true on offense or do you have to time the catch with triangle?

What is the point of this anyway? Isn't this like making the "shoot" button in CoD just be a button you hold down and if someone steps in your line of site you kill them?

Can I get my old NCAA back where things happened when you pushed buttons and not when it was appropriate while you held the button?

I never held triangle for user picks or catches. Also, the patch doesn't seem to have fixed anything. In practice mode and zone is still trashy and DBS still run into the backfield some times like idiots.

this has been me in the games ive played

i know where the ball is going but when im strafing my guys just seems goofy and comes out of the strafe and responds very very poorly

i need new joysticks badly though and thought it was just because of that

I noticed that, if you are on the road, when you call hurry up the offense gets set and then the QB "audibles/calls the play" and a receiver moves in to hear the play running off valuable seconds. not sure if it happens in a home game yet.

Im still beside myself... Ive been giving you assholes too much credit!

Never held it. Just pressed it after switching.
