Same with nuclear weapons. How many we have stocked piled and only 2 have been used. To continually make these things and pump millions and millions of dollars into this is retarded. Take half of all this money and put it towards research for shit that matters. Not better guns. We don't need anymore of this shit. The world to going to hell around us and all we want is a bigger ship.
Hit the nail on the head. Really think about what he said before this. We spend twice what all other countries spend combined. That is insane. Take half of that and put it towards medical research, education, infrastructure, tons of problems could nearly immediately become much less of a problem.
I kinda like feeling
completely safe in my country, knowing my country has by far the most powerful military in the world.
How much money does it take to obtain that? Shit if I know, but I don't think any of us can say with any certainty that cutting that budget in half keeps us just as safe as it does now, can we?
a dude ate a guys face off in Florida. Hundreds of people are murdered every day. Oklahoma city bombing, 9/11, amongst other shit, and you feel completely safe in America?
America is "safe" from international warfare, too bad America is far from safe from internal warfare.
He was very obviously talking about feeling safe from outside threats.

I get this feeling we need to spend more cause we as a country feel we need to me in "more"peoples problems other than our own. IT FEELS as if we are the big brother to nearly any country who needs military assitance, along with food, medical attention..and we are so giving....It's hard to argue with anyone that we need to focus more on the problems we have in our own country, and maybe less on problems in others?

I agree with Oracle here. Defensive spending is necessary. Not to be an ass towards anyone, especially since I don't know if you have or have not ever served, but a lot of people who make the claim of we spend to much have never "been there" in the thick of things and seeing what war's, conflicts, etc, are like. The combat soldiers on the ground definitely appreciate the research and upgrades to their weapons and armor, the sailors who are out there with nothing between them and the ocean but their ship and the equipment used to ensure they're safe appreciate the research and upgrades to their defensive weapons/abilities.
The ridiculous part of that which I'm talking about, no offense dak, is the contract companies that charge crazy amounts of money for things as simple as nuts and bolts used to put a tank together.
Also, before we get to far into the whole "we don't need better guns or bigger ships" you also need to realize that a lot of this defensive spending is also going into cyber warfare. It's been a while since I've seen the figures from back in my days up at Fort Meade, but the US is constantly being hacked by other countries. It's not cheap nor easy to protect all of our infrastructure from that.
Now with all of that said, yes, spending that much money on a freakin' band is absolutely retarded...

America is into the trillions in debt, and you guys wanna pump more make believe money into defense protection. Cool, protect the borders when you cant even protect the people inside when theyre all in the red and need water/food to survive.

I am not trying to speak for other people, but when I see "cutthe budget, less spending" I think a lot of them are also refering to cut costs by not sending troops to certain situations, keeping them home,I dont think they want to completly get rid of the military and everything they do for us so we can play NCAA.

What do you have to do for it to not be expired?
And I don't know how it works, but if the entire country gets free healthcare(not sure if that is so), then why does a card expire?

you're the problem. you need 388 billion to be safe because you piss the world off. Other, smarter countries dont need to waste money on this shit. They put it where its of good use. We are 17th in science and 15th in the "American" dream. We arnt even the best in moving up socially and financially anymore. We are a fucking joke of a country and if you think we need to WASTE all this money for your little sorry ass to feel safe buy a fucking gun yourself. We owe china tons of money and all we do is threaten them or call them names and tell them how to run their country. If someone were to owe America the billions we owe china and then shit talk America they woulda been bombed to peieces, We would have invaded them quicker than you could have taken a drunk piss. We're already at war without congress's approval. So idk what it even means to be American anymore. We don't even follow our own rules.

Sounds like the DMV.
I think I prefer to keep paying $360/month for my own healthcare.

Shel is the problem because he likes military spending as it makes him feel safe. Anybody that agrees is also the problem. That's what I got out of it anyways. I guess I'm the problem too. People that do nothing but bitch and moan about what is the greatest country ever are the problem in my opinion.
