It's funny when people come and say the leagues dying yada yada, That's a slap in the face to the new regime. the league WOULD BE dead if it wasnt for Bigmike, Nole, AJ, Buckeye, Holmey etc. Jeffmo just fucked off, and if it wasn't for them there isn't a NDL today.

guys like brwnbear stepping up, uuaww has helped some, etc

its just we haven't weeded out the bad apples in the same manner i remember in the past. i would guess that has alot to do with the options we have in the farm and the lack of people who actually play the game or are looking for a league like ours.
True, I remember when bans were handed out like candy and 2-3 guys were thrown out at the end of each season.

Cant happen now. Guys know it.
also the reason, given the opportunity, i could never be a commish.

Uuaww wrote:I enjoy talking on the boards, gives me stuff to do at work. I personally buy NCAA ONLY for the NDL. I am not joking, will play between 35-40 games A YEAR. I ONLY play league games, nothing else. The game isn't important to me that much.

Personally speaking, this echos my sentiment and I'm willing to bet a good 40% or more of the league is in the same boat. It's become more about the community than about the game or the league itself, IMO.

The NDL should evolve into 2 quality seasons per game instead of 3 grind-it-out seasons. The emphasis should be on quality over quantity. The 3rd season should be another game like basketball or soccer.

I just think the grind of doing the same thing over and over and over has become dull and the routine needs to be changed up. I know this opinion may not be popular but I believe this is the best way to move forward.

i only joined for socom. i really dont even play my ps3 at all. i play this and maybe cod when it comes out. i just dont have the same passion for video games like i did, i cant sit here for 5 hours a night and play games, just not as fun to me anymore. the boards are the reason im here and im sure alot of others too. ive been to this site more than any other site except maybe google. ive been coming here 10+ times a day for 5-6 years. when im watching sporting events or whatever ill start thinking about what someone on the boards would say to that and building my response in my head lol.

When I load up everything at work, I pull up Outlook and I pull up my work sites and the tools I need to do my job for the day. Then I pull up two sites and those stay up all day:

Soccernet, and the NDL boards.

i can't disagree with that, although I'm sure there's some concern that there'd be no happy medium for the people that like to play a ton. I doubt they would leave, though, and it'd make the non-players care more and more apt to play if we were on one game/week cycles

I know I am one of the semi new guys being that I came in mid season last season, but I have followed the NDL from way back when I was running a league and being very active on Leaguedaddy. Back then the NDL was top notch. I mean it was a league that everyone wanted to get into, but if you didnt play straight up you were bounced out and weeded out pretty quick. When I finally got in last season I was really excited because I knew that this league was first class! And ever since I have been here I still think the NDL is the best leagoue out there, but has changed a little too. The community in our league especially the more vocal members on the boards are not about winning at all costs. Its about having fun with a game and then having fun with day to day issues and supporting each other. That to me makes the NDL awesome as not just a league but a communtiy! But I will say that in my first complete season there are still coaches in our league that will win at all costs and if they lose will blame everything under the sun why they did. To me I think some people in this league need to lose with more grace and not blame things like lag... etc etc to why they couldnt win. I think the sportsmanship rule of the 35 points is a great idea, but the flipside of that is when you get beat lose with some class.

Thats just a personal note on how I felt about a game, but that being said I believe playing any coach in our league is ten times better than playing a lobby game.
