Re: Cleveland Browns Tickets
I don't think they are in the bottom 5 teams even.
Just off the top of my head, Buffalo, Cincinnati, Seattle, Washington and Oakland will all be worse.
I also disagree with you on McCoy. I think he's a solid young QB. I'm not going to run around and crown the kid as the next great thing, but he is very accurate and looks to make good choices. Those attributes are a great fit for Shurmur's system.
You like stats... so let's put it into perspective. He was supposed to sit out all of last year, but injuries forced him in. He played the following 8 games:
@ Pit
@ NO
vs. NE
vs NYJ
@ Jax
@ Cin
vs. Bal
vs. Pit
I think we can both agree, there are 6 elite level games on that schedule. The team went 2-6 in those games, with last second losses to Jax / Cin. (Jax was a miracle win for them). Could have easily been 4-4.
His stats for 8 games were 135/222 60.8% 1,576 6 TD 9 Int. Now, 8 of those 9 Ints came against Pit/Bal and 6 were in the last 2 games when the team was playing from well behind, so he was obviously pressing hard. I get that.
I'd say it's certainly fair to assume that against a non-killer schedule like that one, over a full season, his stats would fall inline more like 3500 yds, 15 TDs 14 Ints and maintain, if not improve on the comp %. And all of this was in Mangini's pathetic excuse for an offense. Again, I'm not saying he's a world beater, but that would project out to be a pretty decent 1st season on a young squad.
Personally, I'm expecting 3400 and 20 TDs this year. I also think the team does win 7 games. They had a brutal schedule last season and this season it's MUCH more favorable. I wish the team did a bit more in FA, because not having quality Ends is going to kill this defensive secondary/scheme. But I'll keep holding out that they make a run at Osi or someone else.

when you start to make hypotheticals and 'assume' things you aren't using statistics anymore.
i watched every Brown game cause i bet against him just about every game.
its just my opinion... i think they are as bad of a team as any.

That explains why you hate him. If I remember right, that would have put you @ 3-5.

WOW! MOTHER FUCK THAT!DRiccio21 wrote:i think the Browns are as bad of a team as there is. I would never make a bet about their record being that low however with the way the NFL does scheduling... they play a ridiculously bad schedule, Cincy twice (obviously), Tenn, Seattle, @San Fran, Miami, @Oak, @ Hou, St Louis, Jacksonville, Arizona. i mean they could fall into 5 or 6 wins out of that 11 easily, but that still doesn't make them worth anything.
they are a bad football team, Colt McCoy blows...Not bad, he blows. Unless he has some drastic strides of improvement this season i don't see anything good happening in Cleveland.
I think i'm going to permanently stake my NFL fanhood in the Browns now that Colt's there (he's actually been my work computer's desktop image since he won a bet for me @NO) because I gave up on favorite teams after I followed Warrick Dunn to the Bucs then they cut him and every meaningful player after they won the Super Bowl (I guess I liked Seattle a lot cuz of Shaun Alexander too until his foot exploded so there's the logical progression).
And for Dave, I don't know how you think Colt blows because while young he still played pretty well against the defending runner-ups (

I mean we all thought Colt wouldn't translate to the NFL but I think he was way better than people expected last year and this year he should improve a little bit right?
I know I'm biased after watching him for four years, but I was in the Jevan Snead camp until Colt really improved between his sophomore and junior seasons. I would certainly take him over Henne, Dalton, Clausen, T-Jack and maybe Fitzpatrick/Grossman/Campbell

Re: Cleveland Browns Tickets
i thought he sucked last year. The games they won with him playing he was:
vs NO 9-16 74 yards 0 td - 0 int (ask shel to remind you how ridiculous this game was)
vs NE 14-19 174 yards 0 td - 0 int (ask trendon to remind you how ridiculous this game was)
hardly him carrying his team to victory. they won despite him not because of him, in any game he was forced to do anything, he couldn't get it done and they lost. He played 1 good game in his season and that was against the freakin Bungles and again, they lost.
he hasn't proven to be a qb capable of winning football games... once that changes i'll change my tune on him. i'm not too proud to change my opinions or admit i was wrong... i just don't see that happening.

He did a hell of a job at QB last season. This year will only be better.

The winningest QB in the history of college football doesn't have a track record for winning games. Got it.

Cant compare college and NFL "winning games". Just cant do it.
How is Ken Dorsey, Matt Leinart, and David Greene doing in the NFL?

Re: Cleveland Browns Tickets
A lot stronger argument than your 8 game sample size, in which his teams beat the Saints and Patriots, while be surrounded with stud players like Mo Massaquoi, Brian Robiskie and Evan Moore.

8 game sample size means a hell of a lot more than his experiences playing in a different level of football... but you can have your opinion and we can disagree.ReignOnU wrote:A lot stronger argument than your 8 game sample size, in which his teams beat the Saints and Patriots, while be surrounded with stud players like Mo Massaquoi, Brian Robiskie and Evan Moore.
i said pretty clearly that i'll change my tune if he starts to lead his teams to some wins... i haven't seen it and i gave hard data backing that up. obviously it was his rookie year and a small sample, he could certainly improve. i just haven't seen it. the two wins vs the Pats and Saints you're giving him the credit for? you realize if it wasn't for the craziness of those two games (and they were ridiculous games) he goes 0-fer the season and people are talking about him like Jimmy Clausen... but instead there is a warped mentality that somehow he's an up an coming qb cause he beat those two teams when in reality those games had very little to do with him.
also he's got the same wr's this year + Greg Little.

Re: Cleveland Browns Tickets
...and a better offensive scheme.
...and the first year learning curve out of the way.
...and a more favorable schedule.
Again, those stats over 8 games, considering the competition, are pretty solid. Considering what he had to work with and who he had to play against, I consider that a decent rookie year. The wackiness of those 2 games wasn't any different that than the stuff that happened in the Bengals/Jags games. The Jags played that game with horseshoes in the asses.
And quite frankly, McCoy looked ok against your Steelers in his debut. The level of talent all over the field didn't do him any favors. This team has a long road ahead before they can compete with Balt/Pitt, but to think they won't win 4 games is laughable.

Re: Cleveland Browns Tickets
I am a huge Browns fan, but I am also a realist!
I want to believe in Colt as much as the rest of the Browns fans in here...but you have to admit, McCoy looked average in the games he played last season.
In my opinion and this is simply that...he did make good decisions, but the fact is that we do not have a WR that gives him a go to guy.
Hillis will be focused on this year big time by opposing teams, which will force McCoy to throw more than he did last year.
Put guys like Robiskie and Massaquoi on another team and where do they fall, #3 or #4?
Now TE Moore could turn out to be something. I am interested in watching him hopefully gel with McCoy.
I remember too many seasons of being a Browns fan where we see a little glimmer of hope from guys like Brady Quinn, only to be let down.
I agree with Dave in the sense of I will believe in McCoy when he starts to lead us to wins.
This does not make me a fair weather fan. I will be rooting for them every single game, hoping, wishing and praying that they do win. But I am not going to get excited yet thinking we will have a good season to be let down when we win 4 or 5 games.
I really hope that you are right and we win 7 and I do think it is possible looking at our schedule, however, 5 or 6 games is where I am betting we fall this season.
I am a Browns fan for life, but I know that it will be a couple season until we have a good enough team to consistantly finish above the .500 mark.
I do really like the front office we have and the direction it seems we are going. Much better than the retards we have had over the past 8 years or so.
