You hit this dead on the nose. Perception is everything.
YOUR idea of a perfect game is not the same as the next coach, or the next, or the one after that. Each year, this vicious cycle takes place & if I was a betting man, I would bet the farm (metaphorically speaking) that there will be a disparity again. Whether it be in the first season or the third and final one, you can't please everyone

The game plays its part in the "unenjoyable" part of the NDL. Guys who take advantage of stuff, etc... add it to having to hunt down guys to get your games in, putting up with 100+ different personalities on the board and their attitudes towards the game, etc....
What I find funny is folks who love this game complain about the guys who dont love this game. I dont fault anyone for not liking this game and totally understand their frustrations. The NDL does become more of a chore than a hobby from time to time for people considering everything I mentioned. I am all NDL, but time to face facts, the NDL is more than just the football game nowadays.

The complaining just gets old...like REALLY old.
We get it, you(not you specifically lol) don't like the game, the strategy stuff, blah blah blah, we really get it. We don't need to be reminded every day, lol.
It also doesn't really help the morale of the NDL when people just bitch about the game continuously.
Well everyone has an opinion, and if they want to state it, I'm fine with that. I mean obviously people will have differing opinions, and as long as your not forcing it down my throat or making like 8 topics about it, to each their own.
Even though the complainers complain, it's not like they quit. They still appreciate either A) The game itself B) The online experience or C) the Community enough to not quit, so I just take it in stride for what it is: The low point of the year before everyone starts getting hyped again. Lol.

-Everyone's idea of how the game should be is different.
-It is a vicious cycle that repeats EVERy year around this time.
-Iw ould also bet that it will happen again.
- You can't please everyone

Absolutely.
And at some point I'm guessing we're just going to have to address that fact, because we have way too many quality members of the league who want everything that the NDL offers, except for playing the game. But, you quit the league, you lose board rights. If we allow a bunch of awesome vets to quit and keep teh board rights, the league will go in the tank.
So what do we do? No clue.
I'm not sure what the fix is, but every year it's getting worse and worse.

Agree!
You are also correct about people bitching every year...if you want the real thing go get a helmet and some pads.
Plus, if we got through NCAA 05, we can get through anything haha.
Completely agree. I love the game and have played the hell out of every version besides '05. That game was just unbearable. I actually bought and played Madden that year, the only time that's happened since NCAA has been in existence. I get to play much less now, so maybe it's still a reward for me. Whatever it is, I love the league and have enjoyed being back. I hated being out last year, mainly because of the interaction on the boards.
One last thing, it seems that guys that hate the game have hated nearly every version, at least as far as I can remember.
was 05 the year with the insane lobs? I think that's when i started with leagues. I had Ball st.. Can't believe I didnt break a controller over that shit.

Well put Biffy on what you said.
Terps I disagree with this. I used to LOVE the NCAA and played scrims non stop. For me its exactly what Biffy said. I dont find myself complaining about the game, but the fact that I dont enjoy playing it as much.
I honestly think they can make a near flawless game next year and I still dont think Id enjoy playing it as much because I think NCAA has passed me by. Im not bitching and complaining but voicing my dislike for playing it like you guys are voicing how you love it.
The thing I notice is that there are a LOT better games that are coming out for the PS3 and since Ive been playing them, I realize NCAA just doesnt do it much for me.
Ill save the "so why dont you just quit?" posts and answer them now. I dont quit because I love the NDL. I dont love NCAA. It is just a smart part of the NDL and probably the least liked thing about being in the NDL is the game for me but everything else it offers. Doesnt mean I wont be a good coach, do my recaps, get my games in on time but stating my opinion.
Ill stop now because Shel and Nole have already stopped reading.
I just want to say, that this is by far, the best league that I have ever been a part of.
I have been in many Madden leagues. So at most, 32 owners.
And I have had more of a hard time in those leagues finding guys to get my games in.
So to understand that there are 115 to 120 coaches in this league and things run as smoothly as they do, the guys at the top running this league do not get nearly enough credit in my opinion.
When I joined this league and saw that every team has a coach/owner, I thought the guys at the top must be hating life.
I have helped run a Madden league on the 360 as 1 of the 2 commissioners...and I know what I dealt with and again, that was with at most, 32 owners. We have almost 4 times that in the NDL.
So please, give credit where it is due.
And with 120 owners, you will surely never please every single person. But I think you do one hell of a job.
As far as the game and guys complaining...if you don't like it that much, why do you play it....let alone for 3 seasons.
And no matter what product any game company puts out, someone will find something they do not like about it.
If they were to put out a perfect product, what do they do the next year to make it better?
I do hate that 2K or no one else makes an NCAA game. I think competition is a good thing when it comes to Video game companies.
But I like the game. Sure, there are things to improve on. There always will be.
People have to remember, it is a game. Meant for entertainment purposes.
Like someone else stated, if you want it any more real, go outside and put on pads and a helmet and play.
I for one, love it here.

i agree 100%
its always the same time of the year, its always the same guys, its always the same bullshit and its usually the guys who play 10,000 scrims all season long and get burnt out
i just dont see why threads like this are even necessary.
if you dont like the game but still want to play in the league then just sit there and play til your season is over and then do something else... why do you have to tell us how much you dont like it? its not productive and it makes for more negativity.
i enjoy playing the game... do i love it? fuck i dont know, i dont disect games like you guys do, the game doesn't have any FATAL flaws that make it unplayable therefore i'm fine with it. i enjoy the competition, i enjoy the guys in the league... thats enough for me.

I hear what you are saying why you dont quit the league.
And I respect you for still being a good owner and getting your games in, putting stats in and doing recaps.
I think the original post was around the guys that say they want in and then you can never find them or they do a half ass job as a coach.

I know Corey, and I understand. However, I love the game despite it's flaws. I'm like a battered spouse...I keep coming back thinking they will change.

Personally and the story is the same for a lot of us, I was 25 and recently married when I came in this league. Now about to turn 30 with 2 kids. It gets tougher to play games. I do it for the league. I know exactly what Nasty is saying. I play the game because I enjoy the community of the NDL more than the game nowadays.
I dont think any of us older guys are naive to think that if so and so leaves the league will end. Jeff Mo left at what could be considered the peak and we survived. With that said, when you lose enough people like CarlWayne, Badger ( in his prime and not his 6 false starts), Wes, etc... the league aint finding guys like that anymore to replace older guys IMO. Ill be even more honest, I couldnt imagine the league with out certain folks in it. Once they leave, it will be time for me as well.

There's definitely something to that Biffy. I was in grad school and 24-25 years old when I started playing online, and eventually, in leagues. I remember the old guys in the NDL and wish they were still around, but life gets the best of us. I have to basically sneak my games in now with everything I have going on, but it's worth it. I really hated being away. However, if it's a choice between family and career or a game, I would hope the game is 3rd on the list.
