That’s your choice as an American not to vote.

Doesn’t make either of our choices right or wrong.

But I’d prefer to cast a vote instead of not.

Huh?

I did vote. That assumption goes back to my point about the 2 party system.

So then I am confused with your comment about “you did”?

You don’t know how I voted.

Fair ish point.

But I know you were Ride or Die Team Bernie, so I think my point still stands, unless you were actually not going to vote for Bernie had he taken out Hillary.

I think we all know the 2 party system is why our political system is in the shitter. I think we all know the 2 parties aren't going to magically realize that and fix it themselves. The only way we actually see change is for them to lose power. The only way for them to lose power is to not give them votes. And yes, I'm aware that likely won't happen in my lifetime, but I think that's the only way.

Multi party system does not make it better. Other countries have it and are as bad as us. What it does is gives tiny minorities a ton of power.

So let's say both parties get 45% and a small one gets 10%. Neither can get anything done without the small one so the small one plays the large parties against each other to get their agenda done... Something very few people actually want.

Our problem isn't with the 2 party system, it's with the sides becoming more polarized from each other and less willing to work with each other.

Because their main goal is self preservation and/or for their party to "win out" over the other party. Which circles back to the issue being the 2 party system having all the power they currently have. You're probably right that the actual issue isn't that we have 2 parties. It's what the 2 parties are doing and what they're prioritizing/how they're operating, so it's probably not entirely worded correctly by me to say the issue is the 2 party system.

Again, I know it's not happening any time soon nor do I think it magically solves everything over night, but I'm pretty confident that both sides are too far gone at this point, and the only way to start a process of change is to simply stop voting for either side. This would make them realize they've lost power and the only way to get it back would be to change.

Agreed....Ted makes a valid point however I believe that with another party or two gaining some ground it may sway voting to represent the beliefs of an individual (representing a larger group in there state) which maybe Better then the current vote inline with the party regardless of beliefs. The right direction is a blend of ideas not a hard and fast dividing line.

Not really sure where you're going with it. I'd say that the "anyone who is" is an incredibly limited amount of people that are in the kind of mold. I said it because he seems very likable and genuine. He seems to be a great orator and has a message that a lot of people can get behind. Not a fair comparison? Seems like you're making out to be a negative, while to me, it's a huge positive. It's a big reason why I voted for him in '08. (the other reason being that his competition was McCain/Palin)

the downside to 3 party+ system like Ontario has, is you get 1 side being divided by 2 of the 3 sides, and then side 3 stays strong and wins cause of it.

I cant even chirp the US anymore. Ontarios Premier was voted and hes worse than Trump. Hes Rob Fords crackhead brother Doug. rolling back sex ed to pre internet days. a snitch line for people to call on teachers who dont follow. People cant speak on climate change anymore. A bucnh of just mind boggling shit.

But reason this happened is Liberals v NDP v Conservatives and Liberals took a beating, completely descimated. but not enough people went NDP so Conservatives cruised.

Mind you, politics flip flop. Look at US.. GBushSr (Red), Clinton (Blue?), Bush (Red), Obama (Blue), Trump (Red), sick of him in 4-8, go back blue. rinse repeat.

This Hurricane is tremendously big and tremendously wet, something we haven't seen in 25, 30 years, maybe ever... Oh and that university's study attributing thousands of deaths to the Hurricane in Puerto Rico was a political stunt and only about 20 died

Yeesh :?

NAFTA out, USMCA in. Canada fittingly bringing up the rear. The general takeaway is that it opens up more opportunity for our farmers, specifically with access and limitations for dairy and the US basically gives up nothing. Some Canadian spin claims they win protection, but the reality is their win is just keeping specific articles that were already in place under NAFTA and getting a partial exemption (Mexico as well) if Trump decides to drop major tariffs on the auto industry.

Simply put... Mexico and Canada's big wins were either A.) part of NAFTA or B.) protection from a future implication. Meanwhile the US gains ground.
