for those financially strapped. in the future, put player dev/scout to $0. you'll get more money. do your signings, and then sign coaches/player dev/scout in spring. That way you get the most out of your money, and then you can go negative for the yr after signing coaches/dev/scout because you can still offer them even in the red, and worry about finances next yr with more revenue.

Sneaky Sneaky

If you spend all your money in FA while your scouting/dev is set to $0, the game won't let you put money into those two buckets later in the spring. The game doesn't let you spend money you don't have (at least it has never let me). If you spend most of what you have in FA, then when it comes time for scouting/dev budget later, you can only put into those the total of what you have in the "Available for FA" bucket on the budget screen. I don't know about signing coaches, seems odd if they would let you do that when negative.

Not yet, getting there though. Once my minor league pitchers progress and another FA market like this (which will never happen probably), then maybe. I should be above .500 this year and possibly competing for a wildcard spot thru June/July next year, and maybe if I get lucky can hold on thru August/September.
