I understand the whole elevation thing with the temps, but it still shocks me when we can leave Scottsdale at 75 degrees and then drive 2.5 hours up to Flagstaff and it be 40 degrees.

I have 546 days left till I can retire. I will have around 110 days of leave by next year so I can realistically be done around May 10th next year and still get paid till September 1st. All of this is contingent on whether we deploy next February or not.

Appears very likely an act of terrorism.

Two of the "passengers" on the manifest were not on the flight, they had their passports stolen in the past year, one from Italy and the other from Australia or somewhere, the two didn't know each other. Those same two "passengers" using the stolen passports booked on the same flight to Europe from Beijing. Not sure we will ever know what happened, but that is too much of a coincidence. The radar is also now showing that the plane was turned back towards its origin which indicates something was wrong. Very possible something exploded and that's why there was no signal from the transponder.

I was reading a little about it and they said the likely hood that it was 2 things:

Pilot suicide
Instant explosion from a bomb or other

There was no distress call meaning it happened instantly or the pilots shut it off and dive bombed it.
Even if they crashed it though they said there would be some remnants of a crash. They said its more likely it was an explosion meaning it would be in millions of little pieces.

How in the world is someone still able to board a plane with a passport that has been reported stolen?

Because while a new one gets issued, not all nations check to see if the old one has been reported stolen, or have a way to check without a very long process. It's stupid but it's somewhat common in some places.

They had different end destinations though. One Amsterdam and one Belgium I believe (not that those appear to matter now)

The thing I can't get my head around is the debris...

They blew it up? I get that. But there HAS to be some pieces. It didn't just vaporize like Marvin Martian hit it... There have to be some pieces right? I know it's a big area, but it's hard to believe they can't find anything. Mind bottling.

They did find some remnants of an oil slick on Saturday but no pieces around it

Found out last night too. I really need to get more news into my life.

I usually utilize the NDL for that but we have been seriously slacking.

Just get the cnn I phone app. Every now and then it will send you a little notification if planes disappear or famous people die. It's a solid way to not miss important shit.

Are planes disappearing so often that apps are being built around it?

It was over open water right? It's at the bottom of the ocean and the small debris will be found soon I would guess.

Or aliens...

If youre talking an explosion over an ocean, I could see why they wouldn't find anything. I remember seeing a video of when they were testing the atom bomb, and shit nearby was, for all intents and purposes, 'vaporized'. I mean there was nothing there. Especially over an ocean which is huge as it is, plus how much of the debris actually floats? Not much I would think
