Half day with seniors tomorrow (rest of school full day), 5 days next week but Thursday and Friday are half day early releases.

Back to work today. 10 am dismissal for kids. First full day Monday.

That was quick

I was just getting ready to ask when everyone started. My son starts next week. I remember starting after labor day weekend when I was a kid.

Today is my first full day off. Taught Drivers Ed over the summer to make some extra cash.

Football practice starts Aug 4th.
Teachers back to work Aug 11th.
School starts for kids Aug 18th.

School starts August 18th. I am teaching health in summer school and I am going to do this every year if I can. Easiest class I have ever taught and I pulled in right around 4 grand take home for july and got my regular teaching check for july. Not too shabby.

I'm back to it on August 4.

For us it started last year. They call it a "balanced schedule". Really it's just two weeks shorter in the summer and we get an extra week for Fall Break and Spring Break. But we can lose that extra spring week if we have a bunch of snow. Supposedly the schedule will help student retention and it does keep us from having to go way into June if we have a bad winter. The retention part is bullshit.

One of my new favorite things to do. All the kids in our school are issued laptops and do all their work on those. We have a program on our teacher computers called DyKnow that allows us to monitor and take control of their computers. When they're typing things I like to take control in the background and randomly insert the letter z into whatever they're typing. It's hilarious to watch them get frustrated.

A kid just wrote an answer to an essay question on the Battle of Sarah's Toga.
