I'd like to see it too, but could we live with 2-3 months of really watered-down Fight Nights and Fox events? The UFC is putting on far more shows per year than ever before and this results in stretching the champs out among the cards. When an injury pops up, which they inevitably do, it thins those cards out even more.

I think the key to having a great superfight card is going with recognition over champions. Completely made up... but the idea of what I'm talking about:

Main event - title fight - Jones vs Gus
Co-main - title fight - Rousey vs Holm (whoever)
Notable HW slugfest - Browne vs JDS
Name recognition / Contender - Anderson Silva vs Jacare Souza
Fan favorites - Condit vs Matt Brown
Hype Fight - CM Punk vs Random Trash Talker

It's a supercard that doesn't necessarily gut all of the title contenders, but would sell ppv buys.

...and lets be honest here, if Dana just wants to sell tickets, he figures out how to bring back Brock for 200. We're talking June 2016 roughly, that means you get him back in the cage for a tune up at the end of 2015, feed him a can and hype him for his rematch with Overeem.

My dislike for Jones comes from his arrogance. I'm a huge fan of guys like Matt Hughes and Shogun Rua, guys who just go about their business, beat people in the ring, and show class outside of it. You can have dislike for a guy and sell fights without resorting to being a dbag.

I really don't understand how that is a reason to dislike a fighter. If you hold a belt from a major promotion in a combat sport you are one of the baddest people people on the plant and have earned the right a certain level of swagger. If anything I like Jones more now that he is being honest about how he feels.

You can have swagger without being a dick about it. Like the DX chop. Win with dignity and class.

Reign, we get watered down cards all the time. This last card for instance, the only two fights that should have been on the main event were the last two in my opinion. The rest should be either fox cards or FS1 cards. And It's been like that for almost a year or more. Fans is going to run the UFC down with the over saturation of fight events. I could live with a PPV UFC event once every other month and a free event once a month. He talks about how PPV buys are down and that is the reason for me not buying events as much as I used to. Put on potentially great cards and people will buy again.

DC definitely needs to take on a couple bouts before he's back in the conversation again. Obviously the Gus - Rumble winner is next up. I don't know where it goes from there. I've said for a long time that Phil Davis would be the guy that could come the closest to challenging Jones, but he'd have to really tighten up his standup. Unfortunately, his standup doesn't look much better than it did 3yrs ago, so Jones would just smoke him on his feet. Jones has cleaned out 205, so the only thing left would be something that generates money... Anderson Silva moving up, maybe JDS cutting... or Jones decides to try HW, which he said he wasn't interested in right now.

Outside of the main event, I found the card to be a bit bland. It wasn't bad, like some have been, but it just wasn't good either. The good news is, Fight Night on the 18th has the potential for some big time fireworks. McGoat and Siver will stand and bang and the card is loaded with other guys that like to throw some heat or are very active. In fact, the top 6 fights on the card are probably all in play for KO of the night (maybe not Alvarez / Henderson, as they neutralize each other).

It's really the 1st of 3 straight weekends of good cards, with UFC on Fox the following weekend, having Gus-Rumble, Mousasi-Henderson and Davis-Bader... then 1/31 has Anderson Silva-Nick Diaz and we'll find out if Kelvin Gastelum is a legit contender, when he meets Tyrone Woodley, as well as quite a few other good matches.

Problem solved... Eddie Alvarez is out and Cerrone is in! Dana just posted it on instagram!

Thats crazy, 2 weeks off from a 3 round fight and he is fighting again. Would have rather seen him fight at home on 14 February. Never know, he may lay the kicks to Smooth's body and call it an early night and still have enough to fight at home. Did he say why Alvarez is out?

Not if they clear medically. Cowboy wasn't pushed at all in that fight, not even sure really if he even got hit

Gonna be a good fight between him and Benson Henderson, kinda shocked he's gonna do it on two weeks' rest though

Nick, What Jason said.

Their first fight in the WEC was good. The second one was over pretty quick by RNC by Smooth Henderson. Cowboy is on a tear right now. He is one of my favorite fighters with his move forward kill or be killed striking and his constant wanting to fight and put on a show for the fans. I would say he is probably top 3 entertaining fighters in the UFC, he doesn't just grind out a decision victory, he is always looking for the finish. I believe they said he had 16 fights in the UFC and has 12 bonus awards, or something close to that.

On FS1 after the fight, he was angry about the fight. Said that the other guy cost him FOTN bonus and he wasn't happy about it. Said it was a boring fight and was apologizing. DIdn't seem one bit happy about getting a win. Dude is a competitor and an entertainer. I'll root for guys like him, Big Country, Clay Guida, etc anyday.

Disappointing but not shocking I suppose, he has said a couple times since the fight that he is done acting immature during his "down time". So either we are seeing him start to grown up so to speak, or perhaps there are more revaluations to follow and he is going to beat himself long before anyone ever does in a fight.

So Nick Diaz got bounced for a year for weed, Pat Healy lost 6 figures and had his fight overturned (NSAC competition test), and Matt Riddle basically disappeared over weed... so what does the powder get you?

An endorsement of support and some rehab? Hmmm.

I've seen 1 rumor that says he did it at a party, just recreationally and it's not habitual. But my first instinct is that he wasn't actually doing it as a recreational drug. That he tested for an agent that he's using in some other PED concoction.
