Those are always fun!!!

Re: Penn St
The NCAA can't levy any penalties. Their jobs are to make sure teams dont get an unfair competitive advantage by cheating and have no jurisdiction over criminal activity that doesnt relate to athletics competitive balance. If the NCAA had could impose any penalties over criminal conduct they would have nailed Florida for 7,435 arrests and dozens of coaches for DUIs.DRiccio21 wrote:if you mean NCAA sanctions, i agree.shel311 wrote:Agreed, which is why I don't think you can levy sanctions, in any way really.ReignOnU wrote:Keep in mind, this isn't a 'football team' issue. This is a Penn State University issue that happened to involve people that worked with the football, among others. It's bigger news because of the status of the Penn State football team and their image as a 'clean' program and Joe's image as an honorable/moral man. But in no way should this be a reflection on the team.
i don't think anything happens to the football program. maybe a slap on the wrist probation or something.
Wasnt this guy arrested already once? Why did the cops just let him go?

And here in lies the issue. You don't know what exactly was said between McQ and Paterno, then between Paterno and the others. And until we understand what, exactly, they knew, then you can't pass final judgement on them. It's hard to take the emotion out of it when dealing with something so tragic, but there is still a lot to learn.DRiccio21 wrote:you can say that of any person who was aware of the situation.packsyD22 wrote:How are you a grown ass 28 year old man and see/hear a young boy being fucked with by an old man even If your a pussy and won't go kick his ass run out of the building and call the cops right then and there!!
which is why i absolutely say fuck Joe Pa, fuck the admins and fuck anyone else who was aware of the situation.
its not debateable in my mind... anything short of coming out in the media and outting the guy, calling the cops until he was arrested or kicking his ass is inexcusable.
in an academic sense, sure joe pa told the authorities but you have to use common sense and look past the fact he told the next in the chain of command. that doesn't excuse him.

Re: Penn St
Anyone find it odd that there were no civil suits that came along after the 1998 situation? Does it seem strange that we're talking about an incident from 2002, 10yrs later? How did this get through a grand jury without ever being revealed? If 1998 was so serious, why wasn't this a scandal in 1999 when Sandusky 'disappeared?'

I am with Reign on this one.
It is a horrible situation that is occurring, but remember, we live in a world where you are supposed to be innocent until proven guilty!
Until we know the facts of what each person knows/knew, you cannot pass judgement.
With that said, I like Joe Pa a lot, but if he knew about it and did cover it up, fuck him and anyone else that did know.
But at this time, we simply have no idea what was said or happened between any of the parties involved. You CANNOT believe the media as you know they are going to spin it to add drama or to have you thinking/believing what they want you to.

If you want to blame someone for 1998/2002... blame the people that had a chance to hang this guy in the court system then. My verdict on JoePa's role will come when I know more about his role. Right now, there simply isn't enough to implicate him.
I'm curious to know exactly what McQuery said and to who... the report doesn't say what, only that what Curley/Shultz said isn't credible.
So you're basically saying that since he had higher-ups, that it wasn't his problem?
I don't care about direct authority or higher-ups; you have a moral obligation to the kids and the parents of those kids!

You're making assumptions that you know what he knew. You don't know that. Obviously IF he knew something legitimate, then obviously he does have those obligations. Once more, take the emotion out of it and think about what we actually know about the situation.jsence2 wrote:ReignOnU wrote:You do realize that even though the perception is and media wants you to believe, that what JoePa says goes on campus... after 1999, when JoePa removed Sandusky from his staff.... errr... Re: Penn St
Just some updates that might have gotten lost in the shuffle here:
JoePa will retire at the end of the season.
A report is out that Spanier is OUT and Tom Ridge is stepping in. (thankfully)

What I do know as fact, or confirmed by Paterno:The_Niddler wrote:But at this time, we simply have no idea what was said or happened between any of the parties involved. - Paterno was notified of an issue in 2002, or whenever.
- Paterno followed chain of command and nothing ever really came out of it.
- Some time in the past 18 months, Paterno was interviewed by a grand jury regarding the issue
- The grand jury investigating Sandusky found that he was given an office across the street from Paterno’s, a parking pass and other amenities as part of his 1999 retirement package
- He didn’t lose any of those things until this past weekend
Sorry, for me, that is plenty information for Paterno to know that something serious is going on he, along with everyone else, just turned a blind eye.
