Last night during Rockies-Marlins, on the broadcast without context you could hear what sounded like someone yelling the N-word a couple of times, there was a black dude at bat at the time for the opposing team.

The Rockies and I think Marlins both sent out press releases with how disgusted they were, Twitter was set ablaze, and so on...


Some people interested in what really may have happened noticed the guy doing the yelling was looking to his right, waving someone over. Over to his right in the crowd was the Rockies mascot, named Dinger. So he was yelling for, "Dinger." I'm sure you could imagine the backlash that folks received for daring to offer a differing viewpoint.


And today, the Rockies have now confirmed the guy was, infact, calling for the mascot. So now the fallout is "at least we started a conversation" and "We really should change the mascot's name anyway"

Most of the Twitter links I originally saw were removed, here's the first I found on a quick search. The shot at the end you can't really see, but on the far left is the mascot he was yelling at.

Way too many people needing to find racism in everything. Those are the ones that needs to be thrown off the cliff.

Trout and Ohtani and the Angels suck ass. It’s madness.

Watched my first Ohtani at bat of the season just now.
