Toughest game, Clemson and OOC games against Nevada, Bethune Cookman, and Idaho.
The stars have definitely aligned for FSU this year. Lucky even.
Not sure, but they've dismantled everyone in their way. So while the schedule is definitely soft, I do think they're still by far and away one of the best teams we've seen in years.
Unless you’re referencing 1995 Nebraska, 1979 Alabama, or one of a few other goliaths from college football’s past, just about any national title season or any BCS (top-tier) bowl season is built on a foundation of skill, good timing, and LUCK. Yes, LUCK..
We may be possibly adding this year's FSU team, right?
Closest game was 14 points, i believe.
Pretty lucky that the DA wont have their 10 month investigation finished until the weekend right after the season ends.

As for the whole luck thing, you can call the Georgia game whatever you want. Saturday one team was prepared to win the game on that last play and one wasn't. I don't consider that lucky. Luck doesn't cause breakdowns in coverage, or block punts and kicks, run for 300 yards on the best defense in college football, stuff fourth down attempts, and it doesn't pull a guy during a timeout then call for a return on a long field goal. To call what Auburn did on Saturday lucky is an insult to the effort put forth by both teams in that game. It was an incredible game, the best game I have ever been to or even seen for that matter. The bottom line is the better coached and better prepared team won.
this is downright comical.
some people....
"better prepared"??
I shoulndt even be bringing this back up, but its in the top 5 most outlandish things posted in these forums since I've been here. (jsence hold 3 of the other 4 spots)

But that statement can be tied back to the ease of their schedule. Give Oregon, Bama, Auburn that schedule and I bet they roll through it too.
How do we know they are one of the best teams in years with facing that competition?
They are a very good team, best we've seen in years? I personally dont think so.
I'm with Corey, I don't even think they are the best team THIS year. Pretty cushy schedule! They have played just a single ranked opponent all year, Clemson. The non-conference schedule is comprised of Nevada, Bethune-Cookman, Idaho and a Florida squad that lost to Georgia Southern two weeks ago.
I'll still tell you Ohio State should be #1 and Alabama is still the best team in the country.
Cnasty wrote:I'm just not ready to crown them "far and away one of the best teams we have seen in years".
But I guess it depends on what years means.
Last 5, last 10?
Hell, Alabama beats them with last years team and probably this years too.
They are not. The fucking 2010 Texas Christian team was as good as this Florida State team. They are the #2 team in the country in my eyes, a really really good football team with a precocious Cam Newton-like guy at QB that played in the fucking ACC. I'm sorry if I am not swooning. I am not saying this is late-80's Houston, 90's Hawaii, or present-day Oregon/Baylor, but don't be fooled by the gigantic scores.
shel311 wrote:Ohio State Squeaking by a few games against below average teams should be higher ranked than FSU?
And I think FSU beats Bama by double digits.
You are forgetting that Iowa turned out to be sneaky good and Northwestern hadn't collapsed yet. The pass defense is a worry, I'll admit, but Hyde might be the best back in the country save for that WHO-THE-FUCK-IS-HE Andre Williams. The Illinois game was a shitshow on special teams ... and they won by 25.

2010 TCU
I disagree. Look at their schedule and then look at Florida State's. Slight, slight advantage to FSU and that might only be on name recognition. Secondly, that TCU defense was out of control, they beat the fuck out of an extremely good Utah team in Rice-Eccles (and that Utah team was better than everyone in this current version of the ACC save for FSU). Do I have to link a video of the 2011 Rose Bowl?
I was bummed about some of the calls in the MSU-Notre Dame game when it happened. Seeing it now possibly costing the team a shot in the BCS title game suuuuuuucks
